Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

Well. I'm officially done and all changed over. Feels good!

People told me to expect an hours long wait. Uh. I left my house less than an hour ago!

My brother's girlfriend is flying in from Sydney (Australia) tonight.. to spend three months in the USA! This will be the longest she's been here, and even though he lives in Orlando, so that is where she'll go, I'm so excited. (And nervous-- thats a LONG time to spend on a plane!)
I think this 3 month stay might be to get a better feeling of whether or not she'll become my SIL (she just finished her degree, but they'd been trying to decide if she was going to come here or him go there.. when they decided on a really, really long visit). :lovestruc

So.. being the girl super behind on things to do... I'm going to go to Social Security to get my name changed today.
I only got married in May :rotfl:

I got married in Dec. of 1995. I changed my name officially on my social security card in Jan. of 2007:upsidedow . I had been using my married name all those years-on my drivers licence, credit cards, everything! I never even thought about it not being done, until I decided to go to grad school, and my FAFSA wouldn't go through!

They wouldn't change my DL until I changed my SS Card. :confused3

I've got my married name on my credit cards, bank accounts, car loan, etc. though.

Hi ladies,
So we are TTC.

I've got to say that I'm really surprised you have come on this board as TTC with your views on children. I don't begrudge anyone having their own opinion, it is just surprising to me that you actually want a child. :sad1: I sincerely hope that you never have to deal with your child being sick because it takes a certain kind of strength to be there for them.

Ladies, I'm sorry that I had to post this. I let it go in another thread, but this thread is "home" for me and I had to say something. :sad2:

Don't feel bad, I felt the same way. :grouphug: I think we're probably talking about different threads, though, that surprised us they are TTC.

Totally know what you mean about this being 'home' though.. I still talk to people on a thread from our Wonder DIS Meet from 2006!

I'm definitely planning on doing something in Disney World to tell her... either buying baby stuff or telling her next year we can bring my kind with us! I can't wait to see her face :goodvibes

Reading back through threads...you should get her a pair of ears that say "Grandma" on them...I read that somewhere else here on the boards!

So, I guess I'm ready to announce. We are expecting #3 on Sept. 7th. It was quite a shock to us. We have our latest who was born 12/1/2007 and our oldest who just turned 10.

Went to first OB visit last week. Nurse thought they should hear heartbeat by now so they scheduled me for a U/S tomorrow. I switched to this practice mid pregnancy last time as the original doctor I had was pushing an amnio and termination since my bloodwork came back high risk for T18. She was born healthy and we are so greatful for that. Anyhow, I really liked the doctor who delivered, but you are supposed to see all of them. I found out she is also expecting and my guess is that she will be on leave when I'm due anyhow. So, she mentioned maybe I would like the midwife and I think we'll give that a go this time.

Well, needless to say, I have pretty much everything I'll need for a baby so don't get all that fun shopping this time around. I pretty much bought a lot of neutral stuff last time so even if this is a boy, it will work fine. Now, if I just had an extra bedroom......

I sent you a friend request! The site is very easy to use.

I hope you're feeling better soon.

Someone asked earlier if I had any idea what the baby might be. I think it's a girl. I've thought so since the begining and then based on what the Dr says the conception date is, it only makes sense to be a girl. Female sperm last longer than male and they would have had to last a few extra days based on the conception date. Plus one of the books said that statistics show that women who are very sick in the first trimester usually have girls, because of the difference in hormones.

But beyond the science, I always found myself calling it a her. So we'll see in 5 more weeks.

I had a miscarriage in Dec. Yes it was very sad, we had just told people at Thanksgiving and then we MC two days before Christmas. I can't believe that people are saying that I'm callous because I am happy it happened now vs giving birth to a child with an abundant amount of health issues! I know it sounds horrible but I work with Special need students and I see first hand all the struggles their parents go through. Is it so horrible to say that I want a health child and that if my body rejected one that was not, I'm ok with it? When I asked my doctor what happened and he said there was no way to really know. My reply was it must have been chromosomal. He was astonished and commented that he was happy to see that I wasn't blaming myself or my husband. He even commented that he was happy to know that he could speak more directly to me. UGHHH! Maybe I think scientifically too much. I don't know. Ok rant over.:snooty:

What I was referring to had nothing to do with your m/c. Having had 2 m/c's myself, I am very sorry for you for loss. What I was referring to, however, were your comments on the Suri Cruise thread. I'm not going to get into verbal warfare on here...we are a very peaceful group (:lmao: ). I was just surprised to see that someone with your views had any intentions of conceiving at all.

Fair enough. Feud over. I just think there are many views and all of them should be respected.:hippie:

Oh man, I had it bad too! I'm sorry your DH had to use his vacation that way, but thank goodness he did. I had to call mine home early on Friday...couldn't take it anymore. What kind of antibiotics did your doc give you?

Sent you a friend request also.

Need to get everyone else's now!:goodvibes

NTDreams

I feel the need to point out that there are a couple people who post to this thread a lot that you have highly offended recently. And I'm not talking about the thread Lisa mentioned either.

Of course this thread is open to anyone, but the last thing I want to see is this thread closed for any reason. We are (mostly) pregnant and this is a place of support for moms to be, not a thread to attack opinions and ideals.

And you haven't done any of that HERE, so hopefully we can move on now.

So how's everyone feeling today? I felt gross most of the day yesterday, but great last night, which is really weird!

Oh, and I have a giant cold sore on my stupid NOSE! :headache:

I'm the Sarah Vargo with a picture of Goofy and friends in my profile--I think it should list Cleveland too. I wish I could go back and add my maiden name, cuz there are too many other Sarah Vargo's.

Sarah--you can add your maiden name---add it as your middle name. I think under profile you can do it. I just did it because I had my last name hypenated because I thought that was the only way to have my maiden name but figured out I could unhypenate it and put my maiden as my middle, so people can find me under both names KWIM?
