"Newest" Moms Hangout... take 2!

goodness... more recalls. This time with strollers. http://www.wkyc.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=154253&catid=45

seems like an older kind of stroller though...

more and more recalls it seems like. that's sad. toys, strollers, cribs, formula, the frozen vegetable recall a couple days ago. Like I don't worry enough being a mom! Now I have to check the internet every day for recalls!

Carys is doing well. I'm glad that we went back on the Similac. She is doing way better on it than on the Target brand.

Anyone concerned about the time change? This will be the first one for us with the baby, so now I guess if she gets up around 7 she will be getting up around 6? well, I guess it will just be an adjustment.

The whole time chane reminds me of when we were driving down to Disney when I was pregnant with my first son. We stopped at a McDonalds for breakfast somewhere in the south, and the girl behind the counter was moaning to one of her co-workers about how it was going to take her 6 months to get used to the time change....:rotfl: We still laugh about that, and it was almost 12 years ago!

I to dread the time change. I hate that it will be dark by 6 pm. Right now Natalie is in bed at 8:30 and up at 8:30. I really don't want her going to bed at 7:30 because DH won't get to spend much time with her. I really hope she can adjust well.

Daniel is 4 weeks old today. My parents left yesterday, and today is our first day, just the 2 of us, while DD is at school and DH is at work. So far it's been going great. I'm just finishing up mu lunch, while Daniel is napping and I'm about to go and nap as well. Daniel has continued to do great with BF. We have had some latch issues on the left side, but once he's re latched on the pain goes away. He's sleeping typically 4-5 hours at night, for which I'm eternally thankful. I'm tired, but not so exhausted that I wonder how I could even function. Honestly life with Daniel has been really easy so far. I'm still not really comfortable with NIP, but that' more I like to use my nursing pillow and when I'm out and I have no pillow it's hard to support his body at the right level and my breast. I'm hoping to figure out nursing in the Ring sling and have that as an option while I'm out. Right now I try and time it so that I nurse just before we go out, or make sure I take my nursing pillow in the car with me. I've also heard about using the diaper bag as a pillow while you are out. Hopefully with more experience and once Daniel has more head control it will be less challenging. Well I'm off to take my nap, before Daniel wakes up again and wants to nurse.

Sounds like you are doing really, really great! I was terrified of NiP and I still don't do it very much. I'm actually getting close to the point of not wanting to do it in public, becuase I don't want to deal with people thinking she's too old! Seems like yesterday, I was in your shoes. *sigh*

Hey all, Dylan & Katie had their 15 month visit today. Poor kids remembered the doc office & started freaking out when we started to get them undressed for weights & measurements. Didn't help that we had to wake them up to take 'em, so they were kinda tired & just not feeling like it.

So Dylan weighed 26 lbs 1 oz (about 75%) & was measured at 31" tall (about 50%.) Katie weighed 23 lbs 5 oz (about 50%) & was measured at 31 1/2" (75-90%)

Not sure how accurrate the height measurements are, as I said they were freaking out -- the first time they measured Katie as being shorter than Dylan, & she's pretty obviously taller than him, perhaps by more than 1/2" -- so they mighta made Dylan a bit taller than he really is. :) He may be closer to 30 1/2" -- eh whatever, they are both doing pretty darn awesome. :lovestruc:lovestruc

We went out for some lunch afterwards, ease up the trauma a bit. And both are now napping.

ETA: I wanted to add a link to a pic of them that my little bro posted;

That was at the end of August, when we went to the shore.

Ugh, I'm dreading the next few appointments. Lily's 15 month is next month. We still haven't taken her to get her blood drawn, because I don't want to go by myself. Her last appointment was a mess. We waited over an hour, which is ridiculous with a baby.

Love the pic! I know you hear it all the time, but I can't believe they are getting so big!

Ya my plate is pretty full and my dad had the nerve to yell at me for not calling his wife to personally thank her for sending Logan a couple of outfits I thanked him and told him to tell her. But that wasn't good enough for her or him. Me and her don't see eye to eye she's very rude to everyone in my family and while I was pregnant with Logan she yelled at me for going to see my dad in the hospital and pushed me!! I got soo mad I left and didn't talk to my dad for a few monthes because he said it was all my fault  Ughh sometimes people just don't understand that its not the first thing on my mind I have bigger problems to worry about not to mention a baby and a sick husband!! We are very excited about trying again I really hope its a girl this time :cloud9: To be honest even with everything going on and all the stress and drama I really couldn't be happier in life! Ya I think it's great that Logan's going to have a sibling me and one of my sisters are 2yrs apart so its nice to have them close in age. Thank you again! :flower3:

Sorry had to vent!!

Vent away! I'm so glad you're happy and hope DH is doing better soon. Lots of happy baby making pixie dust for you! :wizard::wizard::wizard:

Lily adjusted to the last one pretty quickly. We had more issues with getting to bed than getting up in the morning.

Just saw my ticker...I can't believe we're going to be at BWV in less than 2 months! And Christmas is 2 months away! Scary!!

J And Christmas is 2 months away! Scary!!

I'm jealous..... I wanna go to the World in 2 months..... And don't remind me about Christmas, "Santa" has to get stuff for 3 kids this year. Sure the twins are too young to notice/care/remember, but ODS would notice if Santa short changed his baby brother & sister! :scared1: Last year, so long as Santa took care of him, he couldn't care less what the babies got.

I see a lot of internet shopping in my future........

We have Christmas DOWN!! Im so excited. The twins are getting a play kitchen.. We are getting the big one from TRU.. We looked at costco, and the one they had was to small for them. I know all four kids will be playing with it! My five year old is getting a doll house.. We wanted to get her a Barbie house, but I dont think it is sturdy enough. So we are going with one of the wooden ones. My oldest is getting a bunch of Harry Potter/ Star Warts Legos. And my 17yo sis in law is getting an Ipod Touch. Plus some customized Converse in her fav colors. The hubby is getting an Ipad.. and I am getting a new sewing machine. I am thing the Singer Futura 250.. BUT. Just today they came out with a new singer futura quartet today.. I WANT it. But it just came out today.. I dont know if I want to throw down a $1000 on a sewing machine no one has reviewed yet, you know??

I cant wait for Christmas!! :cool1: We are going to have a blast!!

Lots of happy thoughts (and prayers) for you and your DH on both his illness and baby making.

Aww Lucky!! Have a fabulous trip!!

I have my side (except my one sister) done for Christmas and the 2 birthdays in Dec. Still have DH side, DH stocking(no gifts for us this year) and Annabelle. I don't know what to get Annabelle. We did get her some pjs and we were thinking of a baby id bracelet that would grow with her as she got older but as for like toys... they are so overwheling that I have no idea. Any ideas??? She will be 7 months at Christmas and I will not buy her something out of her age group (just a me thing).
She does have My Pal Violet... one of my friends brought it for her.

I got Annabelle the cutest headband I while back but couldnt get a good pic. I have now tho its in my signature.

I haven't started shopping yet, but I know what all my kids are getting. DSD is getting tickets for her and I to go see Wicked, a new digital camera, and some clothes. DS is getting a PS3 and that is it. Elliott is getting some sort of climb on thing we can put down in our family room, and whatever else I can find, since his birthday will be the following month.

I am getting Natalie he first "real" baby doll, stroller and a cradle. Or should I say Santa is getting her these things. She will be 18 months at Christmas. I am sure I'll find some more things for her at Target. Oh- my MIL found her a dancing Mickey doll that dances to the "Hot Dog dance". It is soooo cute, I know she will love it. DH and I are getting furniture :thumbsup2

Well since we live in Arizona now, no more time change for us, but when is it? Is it this weekend? I hated the time changes with kids, cause they always had issues going to bed, then waking up earlier than I wanted, so I am quite pleased to be rid of them for the foreseeable future!

Scarlett had her 9 month appt today and is 15 lbs, 4 oz and 27 inches. So about 3rd percentile for weight, 35th for height. Her ped wasn't concerned about her tiny size, but it's weird to me that she eats and doesn't gain weight. My oldest was a slim baby, around the 25th percentile for weight, but she still had a good 3 lbs on Scarlett at this age.

Patsy - I really hope you guys get some answers today!

Arubio - What a pain your dad's wife sounds like. I wouldn't worry about her, as her issues truly are her own, nothing you can blame yourself for. And exciting to be trying for #2! Good luck with that, I hope it goes quickly!

We still don't have a floor in our house (we tore out the floors that were here and are installing tile) so I'm never on here long, but I do come read up to stay with everyone. I can't wait till everything is completed in our house and I have furniture back and have a place to actually sit with the baby, and use the computer. Right now I'm pretty much trapped holding her all day, unless she's napping like now.

Christmas! I am really looking forward to this holiday season... Not only is it Brynn's first Christmas, but it's also my first holiday season not working! I was a regional hr manager for a major retailer before baby, so I haven't really been able to enjoy the holidays for the past 10 years. With the exception of Brynn and our nephew (who is due Christmas day!) we have all our shopping done! We aren't really planning on getting Brynn a ton... What did you all, or will you be getting your little one for their first Christmas?

Me too! First one with the little one and first one not working! I'm also curious how much is too much to buy her! :lmao: I know that she won't remember this Christmas and she will probably be more fascinated by the wrapping paper than the gifts, but I'm wondering what is appropriate... I've already gotten her a few things. Maybe I should stop now. But I keep seeing such cute toys!

My biggest fear is our house looking like ToysRUs. I still want it to look like 2 adults live here too. I have been really pleased the both Grandparents have not gone crazy overboard with gifts for her. I think right before Christmas I am going to box up some things that she doesn't play with anymore.

I got Owen a set of stacking blocks to build on big brothers already large collection. That, and clothes, are all he will get. I don't even know if I'll take the time to wrap the clothes if it weren't for the fact that I love having presents under the tree :rotfl:

Lucas I am sooo done shopping for. I bought him this play kitchen: http://www.step2.com/product.cfm?product_id=1283 and their 101-piece play food set on labor day because they had a 15% off code. It's been so hard to keep it in the box and wait for Christmas because I know he is going to love it!!

When I went through my gift closet I discovered several toys I completely forgot buying. A few Little People 18m+ playsets and a set of Elmo Tickle Hands... So he is DONE!

I am going to set the kitchen up on Christmas Eve by the tree and have the camera set on it. I'm excited.

He loves little bro so I'm sure he'd love to help Owen unwrap his presents :)

This makes me laugh... My husband is always walking around our house saying that it looks like a Babies R Us boutique store! Isn’t it amazing how something so small can take over the house?

Awesome! We are getting this one...

They had the one you got at Costco for $80 last weekend. We thought about just grabbing that one, but all we both saw was two brawling toddlers. GAH! I am so excited for Christmas this year. :cool1:

I love the play kitchens! I can't wait to get one for Carys when she is old enough. Maybe for next Christmas! so cute :goodvibes

She loves Elmo so I will probably get her a couple Elmo things and I got a couple toys when Target had their 75% clearance at the end of summer so I think I might be pretty set for her.

We went to the Halloween storytime at Barnes and Noble yesterday. It was fun. I know that she is still kind of young for that ( I can't believe that she will be 8 months old this week!) but it was fun to be around other kids. They read the Splat the Cat Halloween story and the lady that read it was dressed like Snow White. A lot of the kids were dressed in costume. I wish I had thought of that and I would have dressed Carys in her costume! As it is I don't know how much wear she is going to get out of it. It's not like we are going to go trick or treating... I think we are going to take her over to my mom's house that night but then right back home to get ready for bed  not much of a first Halloween.

edit: are you guys getting the flu shot? just curious... I got it last year when I was pregnant with the whole H1N1 scare, haven't gotten it yet this year

Im not getting the flu shot. I didnt even get it when I worked at a Pharmacy during flu season. Just a personal preference. (I did get it while prego/ well the h1n1 version but not the reg flu)

Annabelle has a tooth that broke thru her gums. :sad2:I had no idea until my DH told me today... so we arent sure when it actually broke thru. Im so sad tho I love her toothless grin plus we are doing pictures on Nov 6 and Im hoping you wont see it.:confused3 On the plus side tho, since we didnt realize it until this afternoon, Im guessing she is a good teether.:woohoo:

About her pictures tho... I am stressing so much about what outfits to have her wear for the photos (her 6 months pics). What do yall suggest??? Is it just me or do all the baby clothes look more like older kids clothes just smaller and not like baby baby clothes??

Rach...go with whatever you like best, and what is comfortable for baby. I would suggest at that age no more than two outfits. Overalls, while totally cute, are hard to get to photograph nice on a little one that isn't sitting well (they tend to bunch). Can you tell I used to work at a portrait studio?? 12 years working at my local Sears Portrait Studio!

Elliott is getting his 9 month pictures taken this week. I have two outfits for him. He is wearing his Packers jersey, jeans, and Air Jordans (if I can get them on his feet!) for some, and his other outfit is brown checked overalls with a light blue shirt. Hopefully he does as well as he did at his 6 month pictures. Took us about 7 minutes, and that included changing his outfit!!
