Newegg order trouble

So I ordered Xbox live at newegg for $34.99 (heck of a deal) no shipping and handling. I got an email this morning with the tracking info. The tracking number says it is UPS number, but the ups site says it is invalid. So I called UPS they say it is a USPS number. So I try thier website, it also says it is an invalid number. So I contacted Newegg, they say because it is a super shipper it is sent by DHL and then USPS, no explanation for why the tracking email says it is on UPS. I ask how to track it. They say use the tracking number on the USPS web site just not yet. I explain that USPS says it is an invalid number. They say the number will be valid soon. Here is the kicker it should be here sometime in March. No expected date or way to track it to know if it is on its way. Newegg says if it is not here by the end of the month contact them and they will file a lost package report! What?

Anyone have any experience with this? I hear such great things about this company I did not hesitate to order now I am questioning.

Sounds like this is a UPS 'Mail Innovations' thing. Amazon uses it as well. UPS picks up the package then hands it off at a USPS processing center and the USPS delivers it to you. In my case, I'd ordered Monsters Inc. on Blu-Ray and somehow USPS *lost* it. I called Amazon, they could see there was some problem with USPS and they sent out a replacement via UPS next day.

I've never had any issues wit NewEgg (always great service) but if it doesn't show up by when they said, contact them back. And keep pinging the USPS web site to track your package.

I've ordered from Newegg several times without issue. The package is shipped by DHS to your local post office and then your local post office is responsible for getting it to your door. And it does take a few days for the tracking information to get into the system because DHS must deliver it to your local PO and then it is able to be tracked (although if your post office is anything like mine, good luck getting your package ).

This always happens to me. I think there is a way to check it via the Newegg site and that works. If they just sent the email with tracking info out today, wait a day to check it.

I've been ordering from them for about 5 years now, never had a problem. <knock on wood>

This may not apply in your case, but I think for some types of shipping (cheap, free) merchants will send you a tracking number even when it is not tracked by the shipping company. I know some USPS is this way. I was really confused the first couple of times it happened to me.

I've had trouble tracking shipping right away even with Amazon. Just wait until tomorrow and see if it's up. It can take time until it's fully in the system.

Newegg shipped the product when they said they did. The problem is the USPS tracking is useless at best, and having DHL deliver to processing center first even further complicates this. You will more than likely get the package before any of the online systems show any sort of progress of the package. Even if you do see it on USPS site, it rarely is correct. I've had numerous shipments sent this way, and other than one time the postal service rerouted it to the wrong city it rarely takes longer than a week.

Keep in mind that the end of the month is this weekend. Standard shipping times are about a week so if it was shipped this week them telling you to contact them "at the end of the month" if you don't have it just means the end of the week. Try the USPS number again tomorrow and see what you get.
