DH and I are so excited! We've made the call and said yes to joining BCV. Since we already have reservations(at BWV-2bdrm) for July 4, 2002- July 12 we will go with the seven night "free"stay. BWV is not an option for the free stay so we hope to book the Contemporary. We were really looking forward to the w/d and kitchen in the villa. Knowing that the Contemporary has a food court with a refrigerator in the hotel room (upon request) and laundry in each wing we'll be fine. We will purchase (cash) an eighth night to complete our eight night reservation but also need a second connecting room for my 82 year old mom. She needs a handicapped room. We know that we will also pay for this room from our pockets but have figured that we will save about $2000.00 from our original reservation. Our questions are:

1. What are our chances of getting what we need? Two
connecting rooms, one being handicapped?

2. Using our AP to get a discount on the amount we will owe.

3. Getting the Contemporary at all, since it will be the Fourth of July and therefore a holiday. We want this resort because of the food court and the ability to get food for my mom when we(DS-age 8 and DS-age 12) go out for the day.

Do you mean DVC - Disney Vacation Club? Or BCV - Beach Club Villas?

I think you can get what you need. Check out the disABILITIES boards. I believe there is a special number to call at Disney if you need help with handicapped accessible rooms, medications, etc.

Here's the number that Disneyag was talking about:
WDW Resort Special Reservations at (407) 939-7807 (voice) or (407) 939-7670 (TTY)
I think I understand that you are working with Member Services on this reservation. If that is true, they can help you with your questions. When you say your mom needs a handicapped accessble room, keep in mind that there are different levels of handicapped accessiblity. Some rooms are completely accessible with roll in showers and sinks that you can roll a wheelchair up to (no cabinet under the sink). Others have only a raised toilet seat with grab bars and a regular tub with grab bars. The Contemporary is one of the oldest WDW resorts, so it may not be the most accessible to someone who is using a wheelchair full time.

WDW does fill medical requests before general requests, so make sure it is noted that your mom needs a connecting room to yours for medical reasons (and look for wording similar to that on your reservation confirmation).
Also, I have never stayed at the Contemporary, but I am quite sure that they don't have any sort of food court. If you will be staying in a Concierge room, that might be what you are referring to as a food court. I think the Concierge rooms also have refrigerators on request free of charge (although I don't know for sure). Otherwise, WDW does charge for refrigerators, even if there is a medical need to keep medication coold.

Hi Sue,

Actually, the Contemporary does have a food court, although it's not that big of one. It's good for sandwiches and burgers (and of course jello).

OK, now I'm curious. Where is the food court?
We've been to the Contemporary to use restaurants, but never knew they had any sort of food court. I've never heard of it or seen it mentioned, so it is a big mystery to me (but might be useful to know about).
