A young couple called me today to let me know they (with another couple) are going to WDW for their 1st time this coming June.

They asked me for any help with their trip. They are staying somewhere off property. All he asked me so far was 'Are there rides in every park?'

I have maps that I could mail him. And I could also come up with a list of attractions and shows with descriptions....

Any other suggestions??!!

Is the off property set in stone? Depending on when they are going I would recommend all the perks of stay on site (ME, EMH, buses, DDP/ FREE DDP). If staying of site is where they want to be then try and figure out what kind of trip they want (see as much as possible or slow pace). Let them know about the advantages of rope drop, fasspass, ADR's-if they want them, and go from there. You might want to make a few mach up touring plans for them to look over and choose from. I'm sure more will chime in but these are a few that I would use. HAPPY HELPING!!

Because they are offsite, I'd also suggest they plan their days around touringplans.com. It will tell them which park is the best on each day. Really saves a lot of time when you are offsite...particularly if they are going during a busy time.

I'd say to avoid the parks that have EMH and go to that park the next day. It has worked for us every time!

I think the most important thing to tell them is that they need a plan. WDW (as we all know) is not a place to just show up and then decide. A plan will keep them out of worst of the lines and make sure they don't miss any "must sees".

Unofficial Guide is a good book recommendation!

They need to read a new WDW guidebook either from a bookstore or library to get an overview of Disney.

Then, let the questions start.

herc.

Suggest they go to a bookstore and get either the Official Guide to WDW, The Unofficial Guide to WDW, The Complete Walt Disney World, or Passporter. Most of the other books are not worth the money. That will give them at least some grounding.

And make sure they are aware that they need to make some sort of general plan. And also make dining reservations, but it may be too late for June.

Wow, total newbies are an issue. The DISBoards are almost too much for them!

I did a little something for my aunt and uncle who were going and were overwhelmed. They asked me to make a daily plan for them (certain parks or certain days), tell them what tickets to buy, and I even went as far as making ADRs for them. I then told them to buy the unofficial guide and read that. That was about all they could handle at first and it was enough.

I usually plan everything for someone like this who is really wanting help. Sometimes they do not really want help, just suggestions and they get there, are ttally overwhelmed and report back to me that they hated it and will not return OR they wished they had heeded my advice.

Sometimes, for some people, I think they should just pay our way down there to guide them around. ;)

The biggest hurdle these new people are going to face is off-site accommodations. Adding that to the already overwhelming Disney World is really tough.

I'm a big advocate of off-site as you can see by my signature. I love it for many reasons. However, my first few trips were on-site and I am a firm believe in that for first-timers.
