Newbies use year question

We recently joined the vacation club and have a August use year and quickly booked a November trip. My question is for a trip for June 2006 do I simply ask to borrow my next year after I can get a reservation confirmed or do I have to borrow points for them to even look up a new reservation since all my current year points are used for the November trip?

Just tell MS that you want to make a reservation for June 2006, but you have used all your Aug 2005 points and that you probably need to borrow from Aug 2006 points to make the reservation. Just remember, if you borrow, they belong to the year you borrow them into. Your Aug 2006 points would become Aug 2005 points and would have to be used before Aug 1, 2006. So if you have to cancel your Jun 2006 reservation, you would have to use those points up by Jul 31, 2006.

Borrowing is automatic, you don't need to do it ahead of time. MS will do it when you are making the reservation that requires borrowing.

I might just expand a little on what Carol said.

Not only is it automatic, but actually you cannot just borrow points ahead of time. Borrowing is different than banking. You can bank points at any time, but you can only borrow points when making a reservation, and you can only borrow the quantity of points needed to complete that reservation.

When you call MS just tell them the reservation you want. If it's available, they will inform you that you need to borrow the points, and you simply say OK.
