:lovestruc Well, we got back from our trip a week ago. First time staying at Universal...and won't be the last. We all gave the PBH a big thumbs up. When we first arrived, we felt like fish out of water. Was this place too fancy for us? Not at all. Aside from a snotty lady I encountered in the ladies bathroom off the lobby upon arrival, everyone one was friendly, helpful, and made us feel welcome.

We were in room 3264 in the West wing with a view of the pool. Great location. Room was beautiful and I couldn't get over how BIG the bathrooms are although I could do without the phone next to the toilet. Really. Who needs a phone on the throne? My DD8 found it necessary to pick it up a few times to talk to her imaginery friends while wasting time on the can. Didn't find it amusing.

The room decor is definitely showing wear and I hope they refurbish before our next visit.

I am in love with the bathroom toiletries. The scent of the shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion was a delicate balance of feminine and masculine-awesome. I did not care for the exfoliating bath soap. Holy cow was that rough on my sunburned skin! Didn't use that twice :scared1:

Housekeeping was great. We had bed rails delivered our first day and our room was always ready and stocked after our day in the parks. My only complaint was the bathroom shower curtain smelled sour and needed to be laundered and the grab bar had mold around the area it attached to the tile. If we were staying more than 3 nights I would have asked for this to be remedied.

Kids loved the pool. It was nice but the lifeguards were a bit unattentive. Kids were running and bringing drinks/snacks into the pool. Not acceptable in my book from the parents or the staff.

The room service food and staff was the BEST we have ever had at any hotel. We had 2 dinners and one breakfast from room service. Food was outstanding, loved the integrated table/cart/food warmer and the extra folding chairs in the room closet. So relaxing to eat in the room. Kids cleaned their plates. Very accommodating as they made special pasta for DD who is allergic to eggs.

Sal's pizza is the bomb. Their morning pastries and bfst sandwiches were great too.

Very impressed with the in-room coffee maker. Excellent coffee. Also loved the robes in the bathroom.

Luggage services was also prompt, friendly, informative and an all-around A+.

Can't wait to go back:thumbsup2

amanda, thank you so much for returning here and letting us know we didn't steer you wrong with staying on site.

i agree with you it is time to have some of the rooms refurbished.

a lot of wear and tear on the rooms is a constant issue.

what transportation did you use from the airport to the hotel?
did you go with car service or taxi?

i remember you asked about that before your trip.

i'm happy that the room service was good for you.
makes it an easier time to not have to rush and be able to take the time where it is quiet to eat food with the family.

We used MH Transport and they were awesome. I came down with a UTI early morning of our transition day from WDW to Universal. I called my doc in WI and he called in a prescription to Turner Drugs. I didn't want to wait to check-in and have it delivered to the hotel and our driver was so sweet. I called Turner and put him on the phone for directions and he took us by the pharmacy on our way to PBH no problem. Great service.:thumbsup2

We loved US and IOA. PBH was fabulous. Wet-n-Wild was so-so. We would choose to go somewhere else next time.

I guess we are officially on the darkside too. I am already trying to figure out if we can afford to go down the last week of Oct for a trip. IF we can get a good discount, it may be feasible. I won't be able to plan so far in advance though this time. I won't be able to make a decision until late August/early Sept. Kids want to try out Camp Portofino next trip. DH and I would love it too so we could try some of the Citywalk eateries or Bice.

Thanks for all the helpful info. It really made a difference for our trip.:goodvibes

american airlines has the sale of $158 rt tickets out of ohare again this week.
rates are good thru end of november.

i know you use mitchell field but maybe you could drive and use the outer ohare parking lots or do the fly and park deal in that area.

cheap fares are calling your name.......

right now AA has rates at $109 for non stop flights from ohare to mco for now up to june something........

it temps me to make two trips this year.....

i knew you would like murray hill.
they are very good to customers.

if you do a last minute planning trip, i'll help you the best i can.
so will the other homies on the boards.

welcome to the darkside...........

Will there be supersaver rates for the last week of October? I checked last night and nothing popped up on the Universal site. Airfare is really low now but I just can't make the committment until I know how much I will make this summer. Real Estate is busy right now but until I have the checks in my hand....it could all go to h e doublehockeysticks in a skinny minute.

I am keeping my fingers crossed :rolleyes1

the super bowl promo rate is valid for up to early december.
that would be the super saver rate if you stay at least 3 nights on site.

it's only valid for those that won the super bowl ticket.

other than that, no super saver rates.
the regular SS promo ends on oct 8th.

the only thing that might happen is if the hotels do not fill up, rates can be lowered to entice guests to book at the on site hotels.

the AAA and APH rates might or could drop also if occupancy is not high for the end of that month
