Our family is heading to WDW next year in May. We will be spending 9 nights there in total, 4 with just our immediate family (me, DH, DD, DS) and then 5 with my mother joining us. We were looking at booking a split stay - 4 nights in a studio then the last 5 in a one bedroom.

For the last 5 we will book at VGF, which is our home resort. For the first 4 we were thinking of booking at AKL.

Generally, would a studio at AKL be available at the 7 month mark in early May? Spring break should be pretty much over right? (Clueless Aussie here!) Should I book a studio at VGF as a back-up 'just in case', or will I be able to get somewhere else at 7 months anyway, even if it's not AKL?

Oh, and while I'm asking for advice, our children will be 6 and 2. We chose AKL as our daughter's favourite animal is the giraffe, but we are open to other suggestions for places to stay too.

Thanks for any advice / help.

Should not be a problem. The only rooms that seemed to not be available at 7 months are club level. But not sure if you want savannah view or not. And I think hue studios are pretty small. If you care you might consider one bedroom.

You will be fine getting akl at 7 months. The only thing you will have trouble getting is a Club or value room. Otherwise it would be extremely rare that a standard or Savannah view room wouldn't be available.

I would prefer the 1 bedroom at AKV Kidani and the studio at VGF. 1b at AKV will have 2 bathrooms. Studio at VGF has the extra pull down bed. The studio at VGF will also book up fast before 7m.

And we definitely feel the extra points for a savannah view is well worth it.

I assume she wants the 1 bedroom for when her mom joins. 3 adults and 2 kids in a studio is going to be crowded. I just stayed at VGF with 2 other adults, I wouldn't have wanted any more people even if they were 2 kids.

Right, the studio at VGF would work for the little kids now but definitely would be tight in a couple of years. The pull down bed comment was because my 2yo loved napping on it. She actually fits perfectly across the width of the bed.

I'd stay in the VGF studio for the first part, then move to a 1bedroom AKV-K when mom joins.

Thanks everyone for the responses.

Thank you for that! We hadn't even thought of that as an option, and looking at it again, we think it will actually work better. I think Mum wants to try and see all 4 parks on her days there, so we won't need to be that close to Magic Kingdom for her. And then we can do all our Magic Kingdom in the first few days when we're there by ourselves. Thanks again!!!

Off to book VGF now :)
