I've tried Googling, as well as searching the DisBoards and can't seem to quite get an answer to my question. We're planning on booking our home resort (BLT) at our 11 month window for 9 days. We are hoping to do a split stay, moving to BWV or BCV for the last 4 days. I know I can't waitlist until 7 months for the non-home resort options, but two questions I can't seem to find answers to.

1) Does MS automatically book the waitlist when it comes through?
2) If we only want those four days, can we book all 9 at BLT and waitlist the four at the two other resorts OR do I need to break my BLT stay into two different reservations (same room type), so that one can be replaced if the dates come through?

Also, any advice on waitlisting would be appreciated. I learn so much from folks on here.

I would break the BLT reservation into 2 reservations. The first for the BLT you will use and the second for the BLT you want to use at BWV or BCV. You can have two active waitlists so take the 2nd BLT and make a WL for BCV and a WL for BWV. You can choose for the fulfilled WL to replace the BLT reservation. If that happens, MS should automatically replace the BLT one. But if the BCV gets filled you will still have the active BWV WL so you will have to cancel that (and vice versa).

You also have to choose if you want the WL to expire 31 or 7 days prior to check in.

Breaking up the BLT reservation means you have to book the first reservation 11 months out from its check-in date and the second reservation 11 months out from its check-in date. I’m unsure if you can book one reservation and then modify later on to break it up.

Also, you may have more luck stalking for BCV or BWV. Many members don’t fully rely on the system filling WLs.

I don't think you can book for 9 nights at the 11 month window. I think the max is 7 nights. Also, if the WL comes through, you may receive an email cancelling the BLT reservation before you receive an email confirming the BCV/BWV reservation so don't freak out like I did.

It is always wise to book your initial stay as two sections if you want to split stay. It can’t be split later. This way, you can easily replace it or waitlist it without a potential issue.

Waitlists are all or nothing so when you want it to replace only part of a reservation, you need to call or contact MS to add that note because if you just cnoose replace on the website, it will replace the entire thing.

If it fills, MS will change it for you. You can also keep watching the site too
