Hi All!

This is my first time posting on this board, but I've been lurking for a while now and have found it so useful!!

I'm planning an itimate wedding for late October and I have tons of questions!
Sorry if this gets long!

1.) Is the officiant fee included in the package? It doesn't look like it is...what is the average price for an officiant?

2.) I'm really leaning towards the Yachtsman Steakhouse for a post-wedding dinner reception...any tips or comments?

3.) Where is everyone getting their hair done? I'm thinking of doing my own make-up (bad idea?) but I really would like to have my hair up (and get my moh's done too).

4.) I'm looking into staying in a 2bd Villa at the BW...we will be going down with our 2 kids (ring bearer and flower girl!) and I'm thinking of having my mother stay in the villa with us (instant child care! :cool1: ) Has anyone stayed there? Any tips?

I know I have tons more questions!! But I can't think of them right now...I need to start writing this stuff down!!

Anyway, thanks in advance for any ideas you can share!

hi, congratulations! I am getting married on the 1st of november at the wedding pavilion - oct/nov i think is a good time of the year in florida to get married - thats my personal opinion.
The officant is no longer available as part of the package but Disney will provide you with a list. I am using Ron from www.wedinorlando.com he was really nice and has experience with disney weddings but i know Jack Day is a favourite. As for a price, i cant help you there as my TA in the UK booked it on my behalf. I would estimate about $100 but dont quote me on that.
I think the Yachtsmen is a good choice - ive heard nothing but good things about the food.
Disney will also give you a list of people for your hair and makeup. Here are a few: www.lisasmagicalweddings.com, www.onsitebeauty.com.
As for having your mum stay with you - i love my mum to bits but there is no way id have her in the same room as me let alone on my wedding! My family requested adjoining rooms when we booked - i soon took care of that! No way!!! Good luck with planning

Cinderella 2006 - LOL...there's no way I'd have my mother in the SAME ROOM!! (do they have a little "smilie" that's pulling it's hair out or jumping off a bridge??) :rotfl2: That's why I thought the 2bd villa would be good...it's basically a 1bd (a bedroom separate from the living/kitchen area) and a studio room combined. So it's like having an adjoining room, only she's welcome to use our kitchen and living area...she'll have her own room and bathroom though! And we can either have the kids in the living room or send them off to grandma's room to sleep on the pullout in there!

Terence - Congrats! I saw your post the other day and the photos of your wedding...they were beautiful!!! You two look so happy together and I wish you a wonderful life! :sunny:

Thanks again!

I have to second Terence who recommended Rev. Jack Day. He was so wonderful! I'd only spoken to him once by phone and lots of e-mails and the day of the wedding it was like he'd known us for years! He did the ceremony exactly how we wanted it. Very personable. He even gave us a beautiful toast as DH's BM had to back out at the last minute (medical issues).

I used to live in Orlando so my personal hairdresser came to our resort and did my hair, my MIL's, and my MOH's. I did my own make-up. DH doesn't like me heavily made-up and I didn't want to look like something I'm not on my wedding day, I wanted to look like myself, just a bit nicer ;) So I did my make-up the same as I do every day with just a little extra care. I used a light diffusing powder so the camera flash wouldn't make me look shiny. I got Estee Lauder Bride make-up and it was really nice, very easy to use, and I didn't look like a clown :lmao:

Best Wishes on your upcoming wedding!

We had our reception at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. We had customized menu's that had our names and date and also all the prices were removed. We only took 2 items off the entire menu but you can cut it down as much as you want. We had a nice table in the back and fantastic service. We were there for about 2 1/2 hours and it cost about $1100 with tip for 11 of us.

Another thing i would suggest is to take a look at some of these Disney wedding videos : http://www.stvsweddings.com/gallery/brides.htm

This way you can visualize where would be the best location for you to host your ceremony/reception. You also get a sense of the entire process (how well various officiants handled the vow ceremony etc.etc.)

Terence-

Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting that link! :yay:

It's so great to get to actually see some weddings "in action" and not just photos (although I love looking at photos too!) It's definitely helping with the planning/decision process.

I was pleasantly surprised to see a "familiar" face, too! Sam, not sure if you'll catch this thread, but your wedding was beautiful!! And that video really makes me want to stay at the Polynesian! Maybe next time!!
