So we just decided to purchase APs and of course, we're going to be getting the TiW card. I've been doing some reading on AllEars and I am now completely confused as to how the discounts are set up. Some restaurants have 10% off, some have 20% off, some seem to only have discounts at certain meals... it's a little tricky to get everything straightened out!

I would love to hear some first hand experiences with the card and where/how you've use it. Thanks!:goodvibes

We got the DDE (Sorry I refuse to call it the new name) this year and it was a huge savings for us. We used it everywhere from Victoria and Alberts to Beaches and Cream. I never encountered a meal where it was not applicable, and the discount was always 20%. Perhaps something has changed in the last few months? Bear in mind, using the card means 18% gratuity is in turn added to your check. The way I figure it, its basically like dining without tip.

It's 20% of food and alcohol and Disney owned TS restaurants. The 20% discount you get pretty much covers the tip you will pay OOP. The tip calculations that you will see on your tab are done prior the discount.

It does not work at non-Disney owned restaurants like Rainforest Cafe, T-Rex, Yak n Yeti, many DTD places or any of the restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin.

You can use it for counter service meals at the hotel food courts that do not have a sit down restaurant. I believe it also still works for CS meals at AK since the only Disney owned TS there is Tusker House.

It can also be used in conjuction with the dining plans. So if you go with the dining plan at some point and have that card, you would use it to get 20% off anything you ordered that was not covered by the dining plan (bottle of wine, etc).

You can have up to 10 people on your tab at one time that would get the discount. We went in January with a group of 11, only one was a child, so we used the discount for the rest of the group and had them exclude the child. Some of the group was also on the dining plan so it got a bit confusing for the wait staff at times but it works great once the CM's understand what you are doing.

I believe you're confusing the AP discounts you can get at some restaurants and the TiW card. As the PPs stated, it's 20% off food and drinks, all meals, blacked out on certain holidays.

Aha!

That is exactly what I was doing. :headache::laughing:

Thank you so much, everyone. That was just the information I was looking for.:goodvibes

I just wanted to say have a great time, have fun and enjoy in your upcoming trip. Looking forward in hearing more from you after you came back.

Have a nice and safe trip coming. :)

Thank you DWFan4Life, I will definitely post my experiences when I get back.:goodvibes

One more question though... I was looking on allears.net at the restaurants they have listed and I don't see Teppan Edo on there... does anyone know if that is a mistake or does Teppan Edo really not take the card?

Thanks!:wizard:

Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining do NOT take TIW card as they are not owned by Disney.
