We've been to WDW resorts many times and have always wanted to stay in a cabin.

Well now we are :) We'll be there for MLK weekend.

I haven't a clue what to request location wise. I'd love something private in the woods. I know we took a trail ride and went passed one or 2 cabins that seemed to be by themselves in the woods.

Should we rent a cart? We're staying 3 nights but are arriving very late the first night so we really only need it for 2 days. Can I reserve it in advance?

We've always loved FW and visited it often. We've done the trail rides, the carriage ride, been to the HDDR a few times. Is there anything we shouldn't miss?

From reading here it sounds like there a bunch to do, and we don't mind giving up park time to do other things.

Since it's a holiday weekend, the MK is open late and we'll probably concentrate on that park, so getting around the property isn't an issue, plus we'll also have a car.

At this point, and given our short amount of time, I want to make sure we don't miss anything.

I'm not sure what cabins you saw that were by themselves because all the cabins are in loops 2100 to 2800 except for 2 VIP cabins which are in the 100 loop with RVs. All the cabins are in wooded areas but are fairly close together.Check this site out for a lot of cabin info http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/faq_fw.htm
You do not need a golf cart since you will have a car and will not be spending much time at the Fort. If you do want one you can call the bike barn at 407-824-2742 to reserve one. They are rented from 1:00pm to 11:00am the next day. Have a great trip.
