And probably some stupid questions...

On our trip in '09, I think we only did one TS meal...just the nature of the trip...staying offsite...it wasn't a big deal.

We are still unsure about using the dining plan or not, but since we're going in August (at the latest) is it just going to be impossible to get ADRs? This trip wasn't an option when we were 180 days out... Without having our days planned yet, I think we're only looking at one character dining, and 2-3 other TS meals.

Also, if we can't get the ADRs we want, how often do you try again? Daily? Hourly? lol Honestly, because this trip is so last minute in its planning, we've already given in to being super flexible with every detail. We just want to go on vacation and have fun with some Disney magic...and while there are some AMAZING restuarants out there, I know my boys really just want to play. :goodvibes

I think you still should be able to make those ADRs. The only issue is the times might be ideal for what your family wants and needs. I would say keep checking daily for where you want to eat.
Good Luck

Impossible? No. Difficult? Yes.

But if you have the ability to check the website hourly...eventually you should get most of what you want. It will just be a lot more work than anything related to a vacation should be.

With the online ADR's it's so much easier to see if something is available.

I wouldn't wait to book. As soon as you know what park you will be at each day start searching for the restaurant.

You will be going during Free Dining and the restaurants do fill up, so don't wait til you arrive.
