Newbie Scrapbooker Help Needed

Hi, i have brought my 1st scrapbook, it's a Colorbok Starter Kit, it as 12x12 Postbound Album, with 10pages inside. I want to put more pages into it, it can be extended upto 2inches -- how many refills in that? I want to add another 20pages, would it fit?

How do you extend them, just unscrew the screws, add your pages, then screw back up? It says you can only do it once, and I don't want to screw it up!

Do you add the refills with your photos etc.. in it, or just the blank pages?

Can I add any brand of refills or does it have to be Colorbok? Or as long as there's 3 holes, and it's 12x12, it should be fine?

I can answer some of your questions then hopefully someone will be along to answer the others...

I would add the pages before filling them...just easier, but you can do it either way.

You can probably use any 3 hole brand. It just may vary SLIGHTLY in size.

As far as the 2" expansion, I would assume that depends on what you put on your pages?? Not sure exactly what they mean by that? If the spine can expand 2", then that is a ton of pages! So, 20 more should be no issue. remember...the 10 that are in there is actually 20 pages because they are front and back.

To extend all you do is unscrew, add the pages and rescrew. I have never heard about only being able to do it once...I've done it multiple times in the past...with various brands of albums.

I would try to find colorblok pages because not all pages are created equally. Some stick out further, others are heavier in weight or lighter, and the can be some significant position changes in the holes.

the refills should come with post extenders and long strips of cardboard. I would fill the album before you start loading with pages. space the cardboard between ever 5 or 6 page protectors, it helps balance out the thickness of the spine to match the thickness of the pages. I use the backs of used up note pads to make more strips because my pages are really bulky.

the post extenders can be screwed to the posts in the album. Again, company brand makes a difference because the some post extenders don't fit well in other brand posts.

I've unscrewed albums multiple times. If there is an issue, someone (I think Pioneer) makes post refill kits. You could use those or some of the girls here use hardware from the hardware store. There is a thread here somewhere about that, I'll see if I can find it.

Putting in the cardboard spacers is crucial to keep the spine from wobbling. In fact, cardboard being so thin, I tend to use "art foam" I think they call it for spacers - comes in sheets - which I slice in strips and punch. The tighter the spine of the album is, the better.

I wonder if they mean you can only fit one pack of refills in? Otherwise I can't see why you'd only be able to screw/unscrew once - seems a bit odd
