This morning I began planning a 'girls only' cruise with my DD for next year. I have never cruised before, and have a lot of questions.
Is there a place on line that lists the different excursions, what is involved in each options, prices, etc??
Is DCL pricing similar to other cruise lines, in that price includes all meals, etc.?
DD will be 8/9 when we go. I have briefly read about various children's activities, etc. Are these events in place simply as a 'babysitting' area for the kids (for while the adults do other things), or are these 'must-do' things for DD? Since it will be just the 2 of us cruising, I'd like to spend all of my time with her.

Well, that's it for now. I'm sure all of these issues have been addressed before, but until today I had never dreamed of taking her on a cruise.

TIA!

First here are useful links to find more information on DCL cruises

DCL Official Site
Dave's DCL Tribute
Welcome Aboard the Disney Cruise Line (see links on the left)

copy this line into your browser and take out the spaces after the "www" and before the "com" to the end of it:
www .CastawayClub. com
(because the link is now a bad word:confused: )

ON the first Link - goto Fun Ashore to find out information about excursions in the various ports.

DCLTribute and Castaway Club will have navigators from recient cruisers including the childrens clubs navigators. Once you look through these, you will see that the kids programming is way, way more than babysitting. It may be that your DD will want to spend a lot of time in the club!!

Have fun planning.

You got questions, we have answers.

The cruise price includes all meals and non-alcohol drinks during the meals. There is a free drink station on deck 9 for drinks too. There is also room service that is free except for cokes and alcohol. The adult only place Palo is an additional fee for their dinner and brunch. Also you can add on airfare, transfers and insurance to the price of the cruise. I highly recommend getting quotes from several different places. For example, DCL, Dreams Unlimited, All Seasons, or if you are a member of Costco.

Definitly check out the links that the other poster gave you.

Check out the kids navigators on Dave's DCL tribute site. Remember that things are subject to change, so you might want to prep your daughter for "this may not be offered" but they don't change much. You'll see that there will be some times where the lab is a lot of free time - but there are times where your daughter may have a lot more fun in the club than hanging with you. The kids have a great sail away party, for instance, that your daughter may want to go to. However, she isn't obligated to spend any time in the clubs, and you and her can hang together to your heart's content if it makes you both happy.

One thing you may want to be aware of as a newbie cruiser traveling with a child....the pools are pretty small and get fairly crowded. So if your plan is to spend a lot of time on your sea days swimming, it may not work as you have it visualized.

Have you checked the Cruise Meets thread[B/]? See if you can find fellow cruisers and maybe find a ship friend for your daughter.
Have a wonderful time!

Just a suggestion... but the book PASSPORTERS GUIDE TO DISNEY CRUISE LINE. all the info on excursions and decks and foods..
The paper back is just as good as the hard cover.
Good luck
Doreen
