Greetings everyone. I am new to this board but have lurked for a little bit. I hope it is proper to ask the questions I have outlined below. I read the FAQ and past posts and actually pared down my original list. I hope you can help and look forward to the replies (and eventually, hopefully renting!).

1) When are deposit and final payment typically made? How much of a deposit is normal?
2) Once a DVC member makes ressies for me, is that it or will there be additional charges at the resort (like tax)?
3) Can I tie WDW charges to my room and pay at checkout...or is there a checkout at all?
4) I have frequently seen "bump" in many posts and can't figure out what it means...so, what does it mean?
5) Should I post to the board asking for help in how many points I need? I have used the calculator but should I consider it gospel?
6) Seeing that I know the dates that I want to arrive/depart (11/21/2003-11/27/2003) do I wait until the 11th month to post or do I post as soon as possible?
7) Can anyone tell me what my chances are of getting 11/21/2003-11/27/2003 (the 27th is Thanksgiving Day), probably for BWV?
8) Regarding the 11 month reservation “rule” (or 7 month for non-home resort), does the 11th month start at the check-in date or check-out (i.e.: for 12/1/2003 – 12/7/2003, what’s the earliest the reservation can be made, 1/1/2003 or 1/7/2003)?
9) Last but certainly not least, when I post my request and hook up with someone, do we email/call each other and discuss particulars until we're both satsified and then the DVCer makes the ressies in my name...correct?

Thank you very much.

Welcome to the DIS.

1- Those details are negotiable with the member. Make sure you are comfortable with any rental policies before sending any money.

2- No taxes will be charged. If you make phone calls or charge items to your room, you will have extra expenses.

3- Your room id also serves as a charge card at all parks restaurants and shops at WDW. You can use Express Checkout by providing a credit card for these incidentals.

4- Some posters choose to "bump" their threads back to the top of the list.

5- The point calculator is accurate, but you aren't really renting any points- just a reservation. Make sure to have an idea what the same reservation would cost as a cash rental thru Disney. Use the points as a guideline to help assess approximate costs.

6,7,8- The reservation can't be made until 11 months from the checkout date by a member with that resort as a home resort. Other members must wait until 7 months ahead. The earlier you find a member able to assist, the more likely you are to find the dates you want.

9- See #1 above.

Good Luck!! ;)
