Newbie question----

I'm trying to make sense of this so please help me out......

IF I have 150 points each year and bank them in Jan of 2011....
(this is hypothetical....I'm making up dates, points, etc)

Then, I want to book for Aug of 2012 and need 250 points (or whatever)

I will have enough points in Jan of 2012 but don't have enough points when I want to book in Sept 2011 (11 months in advance)...

Am I allowed to book on the promise of having enough points accumulated or do I need the points in my pocket before I can make the rezzie?

Does that question make sense?

It is not about when you reserve, but about the dates of your vacation.

As long as you have enough points in your account on the date of your vacation, you will be fine (but of course if you need to bank to make that true, you have to bank in the appropriate banking time frames).

if you are a member, log in to the DVC website and look at your points available.

you will see that your pts for the next several years are already in your account.

we talk sometimes about how you "get" pts at the start of your use year, but that is not very accurate. if you have an august UY, your pts are already available for your 2013 use year...but if you borrowed them, they could only be used for a stay between aug 1, 2012 and july 31, 2013. so even if you had no 2011 and 2012 pts left, you could still call on sept 1, 2011 and book a stay starting on aug 1, 2012 with borrowed 2013 pts.
