Hi!

I've been lurking here and am preparing to jump in, if that's okay. I don't have a real "plan" yet but this week I have been eating healthier and have begun exercising (i.e. brisk walks pushing double stroller, followed by abs and light weights and stretching) after a yearlong hiatus. I've done my "workout" 3 times so far and after each time I am SOOOO sleepy for the next hour or so, and more tired than usual the rest of the day. This isn't a good thing as I have 2 toddlers who need their mom to be wide awake and vigilant at all times!

The main reason I'm trying to get in shape and return to a healthier, more comfortable weight is so that I will have the energy to keep up with my kids. When will this energy kick in?
Right now I just feel tired and a bit sore, though I don't think I'm overdoing the exercise too much.

I respect all of you a great deal and hope to join you. Thank you in advance,

Janet

Sorry Janet!

All I can say is the opposite. It is 10:00 p.m. and I just finished my exercising. This is usual for me. Many nights I am up until 1:00 a.m. after night time exercising.

Hopefully you'll adapt. Maybe you could exercise at night right before bed, then you'll be ready.

Good luck and I'm glad to see you have joined us.

Hi Janet!

I just wanted to share with you that it took about 3 weeks for me to quit being so exhausted after exercising and I did not think that I was over doing it either. I also have 2 kids (DD7 and DS3) who are so active and into everything. I was running them places and running after them and feeling like I was going to just have to give up. Actually, I did give up. Then, I sat down and changed my plan a bit. I broke up my exercising so that I walked for only 30 minutes at lunch. I also did some sort of activity with the kids (a walk pushing the stroller, a bike ride, playing at the park, etc). Finally, I ended the night with a long fast walk for about 30 more minutes. I am not sure if breaking it all up is as effective as exercising in big chunks and doing more serious exercises. However, since I did this, I am happier and more awake. I am also losing weight with this new plan so I am keeping it. :p

Try to change things up a bit and see if you can find a plan that doesn't make you as tired and works a bit better for you. It is so hard being a mom of 2 little kids. Often I think that just being a mom should be enough exercise for one day!!!LOL!

Good luck with it and let us know how you are doing. Don't give up because you will find something that works and you will get through it. I was hopeless and I have just discovered by trying new things and coming here I can do it - so can you!

LOL - I know what you mean - running after 2 kids - 3 & 8(always fighting) is exhausting enough.

What i do is have my dinner about 7-8 ish then when my tummy settled down, at around 9 I do my workout in front of the tv. Then I have a really long soak in the tub to ease all those aching muscles and straight to bed. Helped my sleeplessness no probs.

Thanks very much for the encouraging replies!
I will hang in there; even today after exercising I felt a little more energetic than last time.

Thanks again. "Talk" to you soon---

Janet
