Newbie Question regarding resale

I am interested in purchasing resale and noticed the variability in terms of price per points at the different properties. With the significant difference in point price between the Hilton Head property and the Board Walk Villas, would it make sense just to use the same amount of money to by more points at Hilton Head and just transfer to BWV? Is the difficulty in transferring stays within WDW not worth the savings?

I assume this topic has been addressed before so if anyone could provide a link, that would be great as well.

BWV is a smaller resort at wdw - availability at 7 months is possible during some periods but not a "given" by any means. you would risk having years when you couldn't get into wdw at all, much less at a smaller resort like BWV.

general considerations:

benefits:

1-cheaper upfront costs
2-access to the 11 month booking window - great if you want to hit a beach resort in the summer

risks:

1-only 7 month booking window if you want to visit wdw - can make things risky if you travel during high season (note:dvc high season is not exactly identical to wdw high season.)
2-higher maint fees over the next 35 years
2a-risks of higher maint fees due to coastal storm damage
3-smaller risk - but if any resorts were "spun off" from the DVC system, it would be HH and/or vero

This topic has been discussed before. What you must remember is that HH and VB have the highest maint fees. So long term BWV resale may not be a bad deal. The other thing is getting into a resort at 7 months, other than HH. This is very possible and can work, but during business times like F&W, spring break, school vacations, christmas, thankgiving, and some other dates, it may be impossible to get in after 7 months. Now if you plan on staying in Disney look into SSR resales....by buying into the Disney area resorts you can book at your home resort at 11 months, which could get you your vacation dates during the busy time, and then try to switch resorts at the 7 month mark if you prefer to stay some where other than SSR.
