Hi - finally took the plunge and bought DVC after 3 years of contemplation. TSS and *** made the transaction painless, helping us acquire 210 points at OKW with Sept UY. We plan to go in May and Sept. We closed yesterday, so hope to be able to book in 2 weeks. We would like to spend a few days at OKW and a few at another resort i.e. BLT, BWV or AKV. We would welcome any insight into what availability we should expect in May. Thanks in anticipation.

Congratulations & Welcome Home! I suggest always booking your home resort at 11 months for the dates you want... that way you have a place to stay. Then at 7 months, see what is available. Keep in mind, BWV will be hard to get in October because of the Food & Wine Festival. It's fun to try other resorts & Disney's Bell services makes the split stay easy by transorting your lauggage and food.(including perishables... will refrigerate)

Good luck & Enjoy!

I think that any of the resorts are going to be hit or miss with only 4 months to go. SSR, OKW, and AKV are the biggest so I think that you have the best chance of securing something at those resorts.

And, it does depend on how flexible you are with your dates as that can make a difference.

Good luck!

Thank you both for your responses. We'll have to hope for the best for May, and book OKW for September as soon as we're on the DVC system. We can't wait to get back whatever resort we stay at. We've got the bug:cool1:

pixiedust: Welcome Home! pixiedust:

We joined the DVC in May 2009. We now have two home resorts, but still plan to try the other DVC resorts. This past October we booked at our home resort, for the entire vacation and then at 7 months reserved some days at BWVs. We were only able to book 3 of the 4 days we wanted for BWV so we wait listed for the additional night which came through a few days later. So it is possible to get into BWVs even during Food and Wine. And I would think in September, especially after labor day (school is in session) you would be able to get a reservation at BWV, BLT or AKV. You might not get the view you want or a standard or value villas as they are really popular with owners at those resorts.

I would pick the new resort based on whether you want to be within walking distance of a park (BLT and BWV) or have a view of the animals on the savannas at AKV. You didn't indicate if you plan to book a 1 BR or larger, but if you do the 1 and 2 BRs at AKV Kidani and BLT each have two bathrooms and the sleeping chair in the living room (like the one in the 1BR at OKW).

Thanks Denlo - I appreciate your insight. It's just the 2 of us, so we usually go for a studio. We thought we'd get into DVC slowly by buying at one resort, but if it's as good as we expect we'll look to add another resort in the next 12 months or so.

Well to give you some hope... We got our points the beginning of November and were able to book ~20 days for Christmas and New Years in a SSR studio. Course at that point that was all we had any hope at getting into since it is the largest resort. I just used persistent calling and waitlists to get the entire trip!
