First time poster / newbie here....

Our upcoming trip will be our first trip since our honeymoon in 1994 (10 Yr Anniversary) and it will be my 4 yr old boy's first trip ever.

We have plane reservations for our trip to Disney from May 22nd to May 29th. I'm in the process of booking the hotel rooms next. We are traveling at 5 adults and 1 child (4 yr old) and we are looking to book 2 connecting rooms at a Value Resort.

After reading many of the excellent posts on this board, I was leaning towards Pop Century. I like the fact that it has it's own bus which it doesn't share with the other Value Resorts and the fact that it's newer, etc.

My only concern (as with everyone else it seems) is the A/C situation.

I basically wanted to ask....does the ASMo resort have the same "sensor" A/C technology as the Pop Century resort?

My dad is coming along on the trip and he likes to have the A/C on about 66 or 64 to sleep at night. I'm not really worried about the "sensor" deal during the day since we probably won't be in the room. I just don't want to wake up sweating because we don't move enough in our sleep for the "sensor" to detect us at night :(

I know this thread is kinda redundant....but, please bear with me.

I'm hoping the rates go down enough to get 2 moderate rooms for under $200 per night...but, I need to lock in a reservation right now.

My other question would be to see if anyone is getting moderate room rates at under $100. If so, what are you using? AAA? Other Discounts?

Thanks.........

are those dates that you have booked for air refundable? what if you can't get those dates at WDW? or for the resort you want? i would book now and then if/when the codes come out call and apply that to the reservations.

DQ...

The air tickets are non-refundable....

I'm in the process of booking a Value Resort right now at $99 per night. I'll upgrade later if codes become available. Just wanted some input on whether we should stay at ASMo or Pop based on my father's habit of sleeping with the thermostat on 64 or 66.

I'm in charge of all the planning and I don't want to be blamed if we end up with a room that only goes to 68 degrees and is uncomfortable for my family.

I researched everything else about the resorts....

After all my research, I was leaning towards Pop because of the newness and the supposedly quicker busses. The only reason I was considering ASMo is because my son is a Buzz Lightyear and Woody fan.

The main factor in my decision, however, is comfort in the room. If Pop Century's A/C doesn't go below 68 degrees and ASMo does, then we will probably stay at ASMo.....

A co-worker's sister stayed at Pop in January and said they were hot in the room.

Just wanted some feedback from others before I make the reservation.

The air definitely doesn't go below 68F at Pop. We were just there. That was fine for us because we normally don't keep our air that low, but it may be a consideration for you.

The buses at POP are FANTASTIC!

ALthough I really want to try POP, ASMo worked out great for us last june (about two weeks off of when you are going). We usually had exclusive busses (ie not shared with ASsp and ASmu). But there is NO SHADE at the bus stops at the all stars.

BTW local schools in FL get out the 21st. You'll probably have a lot of local travel especially accosiated with Memorial Day weekend.

Thanks Stephen....

Do they have any of these "sensor" things on the A/C's at ASMo?

Does the thermostat go below 68 degrees at ASMo?

We were pretty much stuck with the end of May because my sister is coming down from DC to join us. She works in the US Senate and she was only available at the end of May, July 4th, or in August.

We figured it would be too hot in August for my 4 yr old....and that the crowds would probably be just as bad or worse around July 4th....so, we settled on the last week in May.....

Hopefully Tyler will post, be has said that someone will come to the room and replace the thermostat with one that goes lower than 68 degrees, so that shouldn't be an issue.

I'll give my room one night and then have it changed out if it is too warm.

T&B

I didn't pay attention to the actual temp. No sensors and it was plenty cool. It just took a while. When you first get there, crank the AC then go look around. When you get back the room will be cool enough.

If they will swap out the thermostat, I'd go for that and check out the new resort.

Be sure to mention the issue with your dad when you book the reservation, and mention it again when you check in. Insomnia stinks. Disney wants well rested, happy guests to spend money in the parks :)

Thanks for everyone's input.....

I also read a thread where Tyler posted about having maintenance replace the thermostat at PC with one that goes a little lower than 68 degrees if we find it warm.

I went ahead and made our reservations for 2 rooms at PC.

The reservations went real smooth and the agent (Wallace) was real nice.

We are all set to go....just watching for codes now like everyone else and hoping we can either upgrade to CBR for under $100 per night or get cheaper rooms at PC.

Thanks......

Just a note... the sensors are smart enough to know when you're in the room, and just sleeping.

If the door closes, and there is no movement, there is no one in the room. If the door closes, and there is movement and then movement stops, obviously the person is still in the room, and it will stay on.

I posted the same question not to long ago, I went with their advice and were again going to stay at All Star Movies, I thought about trying Pop, but found out AllStars is more for my kid, so were going back...We loved it there last time...::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

So if you need the thermostat to go lower our engineering department can take care of that. I was in the rooms today when it started to get hot, and everytime I opened a door to go inside it felt extremely nice and cool to the skin. Anywho, if you find it not cool enough will take care of it for ya. Well talk to you later.
