We just booked our very first vacation. From dvcmember.com my reservation reads:

Resort / Experience: Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas
Accommodation: 2 BR L/O Sav View Jambo

We are a family of three (DH, DD-11, and me) and taking my parents, so there's 5 of us in all.

I asked for a 2 bedroom, Savannah view at AKV. When I saw my reservation on-line, it looks like I have a lock-off. Is this a good thing? Are all of the 2 BR lock offs?

TIA,

Lisa

All of the 2BRs in Jambo House (the Lodge building) are lockoffs. Kidani Village (the new building, still under construction) will have both lockoffs and dedicated 2BRs.

A lockoff is a 1BR and a studio with a connecting door. Since the second bedroom is actually a studio it will have one queen bed and a full-size sofabed and a kitchenette. It will also have it's own entrance door from the hallway.

The dedicated 2BRs in Kidani Village will have two queen beds in the second bedroom, no kitchenette (probably a big closet in its place), and no entrance door.

Thanks.

I think that will work out so great for our vacation! That way my folks can their own enclosed little space but still be attached to us. Oh, I'm so excited!!

I agree...for your group the lock-off set up will be a very good one. Give everyone their own space (and amenities) while still having adjoining rooms. :thumbsup2

I am planning to book a 2 bedroom but want a lock-off. My brother and his family, who always cancels at the last moment is supposed to come along. I think if I have to I can drop the Studio off my ressie and keep the 1 bedroom? Subject to 30 day rules etc.

I do not think that you'll be able to do that. I am sure that others more knowledgeable will weigh in.

Only if there is not a waitlist for the 1 bedroom. If there is, then you would go to the bottom of the waitlist if you want to change it.

No don't do it that way...book a 1BR and a studio separately; request that they be as near each other as possible.
That way your family will be protected if he cancels as you suspect he will.

Oh, this is really bad news. I am in the same boat, and I'm sure sis in law is going to cancel. I was hoping I could just drop the studio and keep the 1 BR for the 4 of us. Now it looks like I will have to cancel my parents' value studio, and eat the points for the days they're not there. Ugh.

well roadtripper, in that case, why don't you just keep the 2 bedrooms and enjoy the extra space?
