Newbie question about placeholder transfer

My apologies if this was covered elsewhere; I struggle with the search for the boards.

We're almost out of time to transfer our placeholder (11/3 - so either 12/2 or 12/3?), and the TA I've been emailing with has not been the most responsive or helpful. I haven't heard back from her from an email I sent before Thanksgiving, and I was giving some wiggle room because of the holiday, but she knows the deadline I'm up against, so I'm pretty much set that I won't go with her and instead will put it with Costco.

But then I had a panicked realization - if it can take several days to process the transfer, if I contact them tomorrow to initiate it, will it go through since it was initiated within the 30 day period? Or does the transfer have to be complete within the 30 day period?

Costco tells you that it takes 3 days, but if you fill out the form and send it right back that day, it probably won't take very long at all. All you can do is try.

I think that I've read on previous posts that a TA has to agree to transfer the reservation; it isn't an automatic thing. Unfortunately, if your current TA is unresponsive, she may not be that motivated to move the placeholder away and lose the future commission.

She is not currently my travel agent or attached to the placeholder. We booked our initial cruise online, and when I booked the placeholder, I booked it without a TA attached (had the online company removed). She doesn't have to agree to anything.

They're going to try. I'm waiting for them to get back in touch with me - the person I spoke with had to forward the information to another department. Fingers crossed. :-/

(It's my own fault for not getting it started earlier, but I'm annoyed with myself.)

Good luck!!

Don't wait for the form. Call Costco Travel and ask what to put in the form. Here is the form. Then email it to DCL today so you have record of the request being made within 30 days.

Thank you for the form! Of course now the hold time is over an hour, ugh. Trying to be zen about it - what will be, will be. (I'll let you know how well I manage that. XD)

I meant to come back and update - I got an email back from DCL saying they were processing it and we were good to go! Which is good, since Costco didn't email me until after I'd left work (I don't have a scanner at home) and the instructions were to send it to them first, so I don't know if it would've made it to DCL before COB on the 2nd. Phew. Thank you so much for the link to that form, @lilsonicfan!
