newbie question about airfare??

You will have to add it in. If you go to DCL's website, it asks if you want airfare to be included.

So,you still need to book your own airfare to get a great rate??

I would reccomend booking your own airfare so you don't pay a high price through DCL and that way you have more flexibility on departure, arrivals, layover, and sitting next to each other. DCL buys their airline tickets in bulk and they are very expensive. They also do not guarantee you sitting arrangements. So if you are a family of four, you could be sitting in four different locations!

A few weeks ago we paid $136.50 RT/PP (Indy to Orlando) with Delta - $409.50 total plus we got the times we wanted.
Disney wanted a bit over $1,000.00 for airfare and we would be given flight times.

Our first cruise (land/sea) two years ago, we used Disney air - we realized the money we could save by doing our own was worth it.

Again, an individual choice, but so long as we can get airfare cheaper, then we will do it ourselves.

We're probably in the minority here but we have purchased our air through DCL for all 3 cruises (2 complete and 1 upcoming). For us the price difference is minimal.

In part because we have always booked a minimum of 11 months in advance and the "cheapest" airfares are not available that early. Even checking the difference 6 months out we haven't found more than about $125 difference. I know $125 is $125 but having it booked through DCL means everything is handled. I don't have to remember to go look for and book flights, they know the flight we're coming in on in case of delays, with all the flight cancellations and changes going on it is someone else's problem to handle all of that.

As far as seating is concerned I've never had a problem. I call DCL 30 days out to get the flight and seating information and if we aren't at least 2 & 2 (I don't think there is an aircraft out there for our routes at least that would have alal 4 of us together without at least an aisle in between anyway) I call the airline and get it corrected. I've had more problems with getting seats together when I have booked air through AAA and other TAs for other trips.

A lot depends on the availability of flights from your area to Orlando too.

Either way - have fun on your cruise!
