OK so I understand (I think) that the viewing area closest to the water is a seating required viewing area and the next section above that is a standing only area (correct?)

so how does this work - lets say after fireworks I want to walk over w. the masdes and watcfh the second showing of fantasmic next week - can I just find a spot in the seating area and sit (first come, first serve), is there a certain number they let in this area and then after that people have to stand or is it handled some other way?

basically, (assume I am by myself) after fireworks what should I do - go for the seated area or something else and if so, what?

thanks for the help!

The seated area is preferred seating. It costs $59 for adults and $49 for kids. It comes with unlimited soft drinks and a huge dessert box. There is a lowere level closer to the water where there is an open area for those who want to stake out a spot and cop a squat for the show. The standing room area is behind the priority seating area.
The early show can be crowded and folks do stay over to watch the fireworks. You should have an easier time finding a spot for the late show.
Especially if you are on your own. I know alot of people also grab a spot on the bridge infront of POTC

just so I am clear in waht Iam asking, I am not trying for the dessert party seating, just want to walk over after the fireworks and watch fantasmic's nd show - will I be able to do that and get into the viewing section open to everyone (but you have to sit)?

Yes, the seating directly in front of the railings and back to the steps is for ground seating. With it being just one of you, I would think it would be easy to find a place to sit if you wish to do so. Otherwise a nice spot to stand is directly behind the sound/control booth to the right of the light tower.

Does anyone hae any pics of the fantasmic seating are? The standard one. I plan on going to the second show, how will I be able to swoop up on some seats as everyone is leaving?

The easiest way I have done this is to be in Critter Country area just prior to the first show ending. Riding the train in is an easy way to get there without dealing with the crowd mess during the show.

That way as the crowds are standing up to exit, you can come in right behind them and grab seats.

Here is a pic of the roa walkway sitting area, and on the right is the premium seating for F!

I agree. I should be pretty easy to find a spot for one. No, the CMs do not stop people from entering. It is self limiting because of space. But with one person it should be pretty easy. Personally I would head down towards the water and look for a place there.

I have a question, though I probaly already know the answer.

Is there anyway to get a seat without calling a month in advance for it? I only have 3 weeks left and I want to get some seats for this show. :(

It never hurts to call and check availability. They don't always sell out, especially the 2nd show.

Where are the fireworks? When I went a few years back they were in front of the castle, has that changed? Is it now one Fantasmic/fireworks show? :confused3

The words "seat" and "seating area" are being used in 2 different ways through this thread. I know Fantasmic! at Disneyland like i know my house and I am getting confused. So.... in an effort to help....

There are 2 types of "seating areas" for Fantasmic! at Disneyland.

1 - The seated area: Using the photo above, you can see the area to the right of the water where everyone is sitting. It goes along a good portion of the riverfront, from the river back to the rope you can see, and is my personal favorite place to watch Fantasmic. This is an open seating, first come, first get, sitting only, free, viewing area. They require everyone sits once the show starts. Not kneel, not squat, sit. In the very back row of this area, wheelchairs, ECVs, and strollers are allowed. The view is fine because everyone in front of you is - yep, seated. There is not an actual number of people that dictates the CMs cutting off this area, but if they see that it is full, they will not allow anyone own there unless your party is down there holding seats (as there's no point because there is no more space).

2 - Priority Seating: Using the photo above, this area is to the right where there are chairs. It is reservations required (through Guest Relations/City Hall), additional fee ($69 for adults, age 10+ and $59 for kids 3-11), assigned seats based upon checking in evening of, comes with a large dessert box (assorted sweets, cheese, crackers, and fruit), beverages (soda, water, juices, coffee, hot chocolate, etc...), and servers to wait on you. There is an absolute number of seats. Once sold out for the show, it's sold out. Seating is done for both shows. If you purchase Priority Seating for the first show, you are able to sit in your seat and watch the fireworks afterward.

TigerLaw, I believe you are asking about #1.
ballarinamom, you are discussing #2.
DangerMouse and HydroGuy are discussing #1.
APX is discussing #2.

Tigerlaw: I agree with HydroGuy. Finding a seat for 1 in the seated area should not be too tough. A smidge of kindness to others already in the seating area goes a LONG way when looking for a seat for 1. (I have watch Fantasmic! solo many times! :) )

laura&fam: Yes, the fireworks main viewing area is Main Street, in front of the castle. However, the first Fantasmic! show ends 2 minutes before the fireworks show starts. Many people who watch the first Fantasmic! show will choose to watch the fireworks from the Riverfront where the fireworks can be seen.

Hope this helps,
Dreams
