Hello all
I am a newbie to running but very excited! :thumbsup2
I have always been in and out of the gym (2 kids came throw a monkey wrench in that) but for some reason I have a bug to start running. Maybe I am watching too much of the biggest loser!

Anyway.. my long term goal is to run the 2011 Disney 1/2 marathon, with a 5K and a 10K in between.

I am starting with the Couch to 5K program and think I am off to the right start. I have heard that slow and steady will be better. I feel I can do more than what its telling me to do now, but I don't want to over do it..

so anyway.. anyone else a newbie with the goal of the 2011 1/2?

Just wanted to say :welcome: and congrats on getting started.

I was in the same position as you in '08. We procrastinated on signing up for the half and wound up doing the full in '09 because it still had spots open after the half had closed (not a recommended method BTW).

You can do it and this will be a great place for support.

Awesome, welcome to the addiction. The toughest part is the first 3 weeks. Also yes you can def do more than the plan is telling you, but the first thing that those plans train is your bones and joints. Your muscles and lungs will adapt much more quickly then the bones and joints that support them.

If you have any questions feel free.

welcome and congrats! Welcome to a better you lol! There are some great people here with good advice, so don't be afraid to ask questions!

Nice blog, i've been kinda putting one together but dont really have the regular posting thing down.

You are not alone. I am an overweight non-runner married to a former cross country runner. I have begun this week working towards (hopefully) the princess half next year. My husband and the WISH board members where I have been lurking have really inspired me. I am terrified but excited. :)

Thank you everyone! Its great to be doing this. Just finished W1 D3 and I feel great. Just went out today and bought a great pair of shoes, they ones I have been wearing were NOT running shoes, so I actually am excited for my next run!! :thumbsup2
