Hi everybody - we are headed down in November and staying offsite (we always do) but we are thinking of tacking on 2 nights beforehand on property (we’ve never stayed on site)

We will have our tickets already.

1. If we reserve room only now, can we get the price adjusted if new discounts/promos come out?

2. Any other tips or tricks? Thinking maybe all star movies...

Thanks!!

If a discount comes out for your dates, you can have it applied to your existing reservation as long as what you have booked is available under the discount. Sometimes you have to be flexible with your resort and/or room type as having a reservation already in place does not guarantee a discount can be applied. With that said, if you are planning to book those extra nights onsite regardless of a discount, I'd book now to make sure you get what you want. If you will only add the nights with a discount, I'd wait to see what (if any) discounts come out for your dates.

Here's the thing with room discounts; Disney doesn't offer discounts out of the goodness of their heart, nor to save you money. They offer them to fill up the resorts.
If everyone books a room in anticipation that they will be able to "apply the discount when it becomes available", (and in so doing, fills the resort), then Disney has no reason to offer any discount. A few will then cancel their trip if they can't get a discount, but most will not as they are too heavily invested (both financially and emotionally) in the trip.

The trend over the past decade has been fewer and fewer available discounts offered. The major factor for that is this behavior of booking early and expecting a discount later. It's great for Disney! They fill more rooms at a higher nightly rate.

It is a strategy and it can work, but it's becoming a less and less effective one because everyone is doing it. Just be aware that you may not achieve the results you're expecting.

Great, thanks. That makes total sense- in the same vein as the free Dining promotions- thanks!
