Newbie needs tips / Universal Studios pocast??

We are Disney veterans and have never been to Universal and are planning out 1st trip in July 2010 and staying at HRH following a 10-day stay at WDW. I want to learn all I can about the hotels, front of the line pass (does that still exist?) citywalk and of course, the rides.

Please help this Universal newbie find lots of insider tips!!!! I love podcasts and can't seem to find any about Universal Studios

just read through this forum and you will find the answer to anything you need to know. Yes, front of the line still exists and once you get used to it you will find WDW's Fastpass system very tiresome. Because of FOTL you don't need the kinds of timesaving commando tips they use in WDW, just figure out what types of rides you like best and the rest is a cakewalk.

If you start reading a little every day you will be a megaboss expert on US/IOA by the time your trip rolls around. You will also be able to experience their newest attractions since The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be open by then and HR3 is already operational. If by any chance you can't find an answer to a question just post it and you will get the info you need, this forum is loaded with experts. Enjoy your vacation.

I've only been to US/IOA twice myself, so I'll share what I can.

US/IOA's Express Pass is similar to WDW FP, with the exception that you don't have to go to a machine to get a FP. Being you're staying at HRH, you room key is your Express Pass. And unlike WDW, you can bypass the lines as many times as you want. You won't get to the front of the line, but you get to the front rather quickly.

As far as rides go, there are several that are comparable to WDW. If you're a coaster fan like me; IMO, you'll find the coasters here to be way better than the ones over at WDW. Not saying the ones over at WDW aren't good, just saying I just so happen to like the ones' at US/IOA a little better. Don't want to get flamed or anything; but again, that's just my opinion. If you want to get a feel of what rides are available, check out Universal Orlando's website (http://www.universalorlando.com/OverviewPages/TP/themeparksoverview.aspx) to see what rides there are. Then you can go to youtube and watch some of the videos.

The site will also give you some insight to City Walk and the resorts, and what they're about. We ate dinner at City Walk after the parks closed, saw some live bands and just enjoyed walking around seeing all the different shops.

Sorry I can't be of enough assistance for the resorts though, as I've never stayed there. Trying to see how I can work that out for next year.

Universal is like taking A vacation on your vacation when you stay on-site.No 6month ADR's,no worrys about nothing!!
