We are planning one day at Epcot in a few weeks (5/23.) I have some questions that are probably minor, but I get obsessive about planning. I've only been to Disney once, as a college student, when my friends and I made no plans and flew by the seats of our pants (and this was over 10 years ago, and we managed to get dining reservations same day back then, so I know it's very different now!) This time, it's family, and we are a group of 6 adults.
We are staying at the Wyndham in Disney Springs. We had been planning on driving (originally planned to stay on International Drive) and now I'm not sure if it's best to take the shuttles or drive. We would like to be there at rope drop, but I'm not sure what time we should actually be in the parking lot or on the shuttle. I heard that Epcot usually opens about 15 minutes earlier than scheduled. We would like to get there, get in, and get to a few attractions ASAP. Our Fast Passes are all for later in the day, starting around 4:30.
Do you go through security before rope drop or after? What time would you recommend being in the parking lot or on the shuttle?
One member of our party has osteoarthritis and a healing pelvic fracture and uses a cane. We would ideally like to rent an ECV, so we definitely want to be in and through security as early as we can be as I'm sure that will take some time to get settled. We may split up for this and some may go try to get on Test Track standby- I've been tracking waits on MDE and this seems like a possibility first thing? We only have one day at Disney, so we are planning to make the most of it.
Any input would be appreciated! Thank you!
