Hi all.

I have a wdw vacation planned for May, but we are considering going to Disneyland instead.

I don't even know where to begin!

I'm assuming the on-site hotels are expensive? Can anyone recommend a good, clean offsite hotel? One with a kitchen would be awesome so we could eat in our room. The airfare from Charlotte to CA isn't cheap for 5 people!

Anything else I should know? Is it worth coming across the country for? lol

Are there any deals going on?

Also, we were considering visiting Knotts or Universal while we are there. Any recommendations?

There are quite a few Good Neighbor Hotels for DL. HOJOs (Howard Johnsons) seems very popular. We are staying at the Candy Cane Inn, which is suppose to have a great free breakfast. Since we usually eat at a character breakfast in the parks at WDW, we thought it would be great to get up and eat before we got there. I was going to ask why you were thinking about DL until I saw that you've been to WDW a lot. We are going our first DL trip in a few weeks, but we'll be back at WDW fall 09 and fall 10.

Sorry I can't help on a room with a kitchen, but someone here will be able to answer all your questions.

HOJO's, the Candy Cane & the Best Western (BWPPI) are all great choices (& are on Harbor Blvd)....most important is the ability to easily walk to the parks (probably 6-8 hotel/motels on Harbor allow for this).

Can't help you with the Kitchen, but as Mary mentions....it probably isn't needed if you get a free breakfast(or a fridge) & DLR has great counter service options that won't break the bank as well.
