I am trying to plan a Disney trip for a family of 5. I have a 3, 8 & 11 yr old. They want nothing more than to stay at the AS Movies Resort. I have talked to Disney travel and they tell me they can't book with 5 people, even though my 3 yr old will sleep with me or in a crib. Is it possible I could book the room for 4 and pay for her tickets seperate or is it just a hopeless case? Thanks in advance for any info

I don't think you are supposed to, but I suppose you could. But if your buy the 3 year old's ticket and they don't have a room key, they won't be let in for EMHs.

Unless you're planning to lie about the 3yo's age (which I wouldn't recommend admitting here!) and sneaking them in for free, I don't really see the purpose of buying their ticket and not just getting it added on to the room like everyone else. But I guess you could do it if you didn't bring them up to the desk when you checked in.

If I were planning to buy tickets for the 3yo, I'd just add them on to the room. If I were planning to lie, I'd just tell the staff that the kid was 2 and still have them added on to the room. But, that's me.

I hate to say this but no, your should not do this. It's Disney's policy to have the correct number of people registered in the room. It's really for your own safety, not because they want you to spend more money. Think of it this way - if a fire broke out in the middle of the night, wouldn't you want your three year old to be noted on your room registration? It's an extreme example but that's one of the reasons for having all members registered with Disney.

Check out the All Star Suites. They are at the all Star Music but Music is right next door to Movies. You'd have more room, you'd be legal in the eyes of Disney and really, the only things the kids are going to be interested in are outside anyway. You can pool hop between the All Stars and you can certainly use their food court and buses if you want.

Welcome to the DISboards!!! :)

Would your family have any interest in doing the All-Star Music resort, rather than Movies? They have Family Suites that accommodate up to 6 people. They have a bedroom, a living area with sofas that fold out into beds, and 2 bathrooms.

If you do All-Star Movies you won't have much choice but to book two rooms and ask for adjoining rooms.

I wouldn't sneak in a 5th person if Disney has already said no.

edit: oops...I see that disnut beat me to the punch on this info. I did want to mention, also, that there is an off-site hotel that can accommodate more people, is VERY kid-appealing, has shuttles to the parks, and is reasonable in price -- the Nickelodeon Family Suites by Holiday Inn. I personally prefer staying on-site, but if you're running into space issues, off-site is an option.

do the music - suites.

then as disnut8 says - you can easily walk over to the Movies.

here is a map
http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/allstarmusicmap.htm

you can see how close Movies and Music are - promise very, very short walk.

Disney can and has does removed families for staying in a place that is too small for them.

nothing is worst (for me anyway) to have security show up and move you. Then I don't think you get a discount.

Thanks for the advice. The AS Music isn't available for our date. I've looked into other options, but of course there are a lot of other questions now. Like how often shuttles run from offsite places, can you still roam around the hotel resorts just to look without being a guest?

you need a car if staying offsite.

the shuttles from offsite do good to make to each park once in the morning and once in the evening.

so getting a car is necessary for offsite.

other places that sleep 5.

POR - trundle beds - cheaper than All star music suites. but not near All Star Movies.

fw cabins - has bunk beds

AKV - 1-bedroom
