Hi All,

I'm a fairly new owner and have run into a situation. I have a reservation in the very near future at an in-demand property, and I have to cancel my trip. I have been asking my friends if they are interested in taking my reservation over but have not had luck so far.

I really don't want my points going into holding because this property will likely never have availability in the holding period window.

My question - should I go through a 3rd party vendor to try to rent out the reservation? Should I try to rent it myself through Disboards (remember - I'm really new to this, so renting on my own would be a risky proposition)? Or should I just let the points go?

Thanks for any advice. I do appreciate the time and effort you all go to in order to educate the masses!

If you are canceling due to the storm, call MS, they have a policy about canceling due to storms.

I would try and rent it. Through a rental agency would probably be best in this situation, if you are nervous about trying to do it yourself.

Hi. For the first time I would use a third party like Davids site. I have used them and found them very good. Depending on time frame he may not get anybody now but email them and ask. At least they will do all the contract stuff for you. Good luck!

Thanks. I figured this would be my best shot.

I think so. I have both rented out our points and rented through David's and been very happy. I have also done private and prefer David route. You might pay a little more or get a little less per point but it's worth it. Unless it's a friend that works out well.
