I am new to this forum and thought I would introduce myself, as well as ask a few questions I have about Disney world (flordia)

My name is Shana and I will be taking my first trip to WDW, in Flordia this summer. I will be going with my boyfriend (Chris, age 27), my 2 brothers (Michael 16 and Jonathan 15), as well as my cousin (Becky, 15). We are looking to go around July 7th, or Some time in August and staying approx. 4 days and 4 nights/5 nights). I am new to the whole DVC thing and not sure how that works. If anyone would be kind enough to explain that to me. Also, we would def. like to stay on site, but would like to keep cost under or right at $2,000 for the entire trip. Not sure if that is a reasonable or not. We would also, like to stay in one room. Can anyone tell me if this is possible, if so where and how much it would cost. This is a first time trip for everyone, but my boyfriend who went when he was 2 and again when he was 14. We would, def like to get the full experience.

Please e-mail me/pm if you can help me out...Thanks again!

<Edit> We would like to spend more, but will not have the funds before our trip. Is there anything we can do to beable to "charge" it. Without having to use a credit card (we do not have one..)????</edit>

Hi, Shana! You may want to post this over at the DVC Rent/Trade board.

You should include:

Dates of travel
What type of room (you would need a 2-bdrm)
Preferred resort(s)

I just had 179 points for rent. Don't know if that would have helped you out, but I only have about 50 left now.

Good luck! And let me know if I can help any further!

How does DVC work? I had no clue about them until I came here. All I know is its points...I am new to this whole disney thing.

Check out this link.

Basically, in short, each night has an assigned point value based on the resort, time of year and type of accomodations (ie: studio, 1-bdrm, 2-bdrm). For example, we are travelling in October and staying at VWL. At that time of year, a studio is 12 pts. per night Sun-Thurs and 23 Fri & Sat. So we will be using 83 pts. If we were not members and wanted to rent the points from someone, the average going rate for points seems to be about $10 per point. So to rent 83 pts. would cost roughly $830 for 5 nights. That's only $166 a night which is a lot cheaper than if you were to book the room yourself.

Hope this makes sense!
