My wife and I are VERY close to getting into the DVC. We have done all the research and understand the DVC very well.

However, the ONLY purpose would be to stay at the Boardwalk (thru re-sale) as our home resort during a week to 10 days in October for the Food and Wine Festival - each year. We have been going each year for a long time and find that we return each year - only for the festival.

Can someone give me an idea of how difficult it is to get a reservation for a week plus at that time each year if Boardwalk is our home resort?

popcorn::

Do we have to be on the phone at o'dark thirty exactly 11 months ahead, with the "chance" of getting a reservation? Or, are we ok making the reservation any time before the 7 month "open reservation" period.

Any info is appreciated.

Staying at different resorts has not been a problem for us. I have stayed all over.

It depends on several things.

1. If you bought resale it would be about six weeks to complete the sale. So you are looking at about April 1 to make a ressie. That might give you a chance at the W & F festival time of the year when you would still have the 11 to 7 window. If you bought thru DVC you could make a ressie a lot sooner.

2. It would depend on your villa choice. Studios go the quickest. Standard view would not be available probably.

We book the same week in October every other year.

I tend to call on my checkout day and have gotten both Standard View and Boardwalk View for three years with no waitlist - however, every year someone says "you are lucky, this is the last Standard View room." So I should be calling day by day. A lot of BW owners do. If you don't need standard and won't be disappointed with a preferred view, you can certainly wait.

But it isn't like dialing for Cindy table even for those in demand rooms - at least not yet. You can call day by day or book at once and do fine - or maybe have to spend a few weeks on the waitlist.

However, I wouldn't wait until March to make plans - even if all you want is preferred view - once the window opens, what is left books fast - and BW is frequently booked pretty tight for F&W before the window opens.

October - December are difficult months to reserve the EPCOT resorts (BCV & BWV).

If you want to stay in either a standard view room or a guaranteed Boardwalk view room, my advice is to call day by day at 11 months to be sure of getting what you want. If you call just once at the 11 month mark, you may have to waitlist for one or more of your days for those reservation categories.

If you are OK with a Preferred View -Pool/Garden room, then you can be more casual about calling. I'd still make a point of calling before the 7 month window opens, however. After that, your chances are not so great.

Thanks so much to each of you - that is very helpful.

Sorry for the newbie question - but you referred to calling "day to day." Am I understanding correctly that you call day to day to get each of the days you want 11 months out - as opposed to being able to call once to get a week or more.

For example, if we want to go Oct. 1-10, I would have to call on 10th - 11 months ahead - to book it all at once. Otherwise call on the 1, 2, 3, etc. to get the days?

Thanks again.

Yes - basically. If you are checking in on Oct 1 and out on Oct 10, you would make the one call on the previous November 10 (if that falls on a day MS isn't open, then you have to wait until MS is open).

To call day by day, you would make the first call on the previous November 2 (because the check out day for Oct 1 is Oct 2). Then you continue calling each day until you have the entire reservation. Tell MS what you want to do on the first call - the CM will hold the confirmation letter until you have all the days. It's a common thing to do for the BWV because of the standard and guaranteed Boardwalk view rooms.
