Hi, I am thinking of bying into the DVC, and know that I have to buy a minimum of 160 points.

I know this is dependent on what is available, but assuming there is a resale available - am I allowed to split the purchase and say buy 80 points at BLT and 80 points at BCV???

Sorry, just not really sure how all this works yet!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Hi :goodvibes & welcome !

iirc I don't think you can do this type of point splitting between resorts on your initial buy-in purchase through Disney - I think you need to satisfy the minimum 160 pt at one resort (this is why we purchased via resale market when we first got into DVC instead of buying directly through Disney). But, it never hurts to ask your guide if you'd be allowed to do so.

Edited To Add : Direct purchase from Disney you would have to purchase 160 points;

BUT if you purchase on resale market you can purchase a contract for
less points than 160 and still become a DVC member (your membership
would not be treated any differently) and then

at a later date (whenever you want to do this) you can add-on points
at other resorts either by purchasing another contract on resale market
(you'd have to find a contract with same UY month as your first contract
& have it titled exactly same for it to be listed as an add-on to first)
~OR~
you can also purchase add-on points directly through Disney (25pt
minimum with cash or 50 pt min with Disney's financing) and they
will automatically give you same UY month as your first contract &
list it as an add-on to your first contract.

Best wishes to you :)

You are asking whether you can split a resale contract up? If that's your question, the answer is no. If you buy resale, you will be buying exactly the contract that the seller is selling - - home resort, number of points, use year, etc. Hope that helps!! :goodvibes

ETA: If you wish to purchase a smaller BLT contract, likely you are going to have to wait for quite a while for the resales to catch up. If you purchase through Disney, however, you will be required to buy a minimum of 160 points, and we are getting reports that DVC is allowing you to split your purchases between the non-sold out DVCs available through Disney - BLT, AKV, SSR.

Yes you can split up your points IF buying through Disney directly...not resale.....They started to allow this over the past few weeks. However, it is my understanding that you would need to split the points between the 3 resorts they are currently selling into (BLT, AKV and SSR). It doesn't hurt to ask though about getting 80 BLT and 80 BCV (might need to wait for inventor to come in via ROFR), the worst they could say is no.

I purchased 125 BLT and 45 AKV and couldn't be happier:cool1:

thank you everyone!!!:thumbsup2

I really wanted to split it between BLT and BCV:cloud9:, so I guess the only way for me to do that would be to buy a resale of BCV (for any number of points as agreed with seller) and then do an add on for BLT (minimum 25pts or 50 if financed) - Have I got that right!!!:confused3

Sorry just want to make sure I am clear!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

You Got It :thumbsup2 That's what I'm doing right now. I'm buying a resale at SSR though since the prices are good. So 1 year I will stay at BLT and the next I will book SSR at 11 months and then at 7 months see what other resort I can find. :woohoo:

Yes, that is probably the way you will have to go but I would call a DVC guide and ask if you can split between BLT and BCV direct through Disney. I think going the resale route would be cheaper since BCV through Disney is currently $106.00.

But, if you COULD get Disney to sell you both, you would have your points a lot faster than resale. The worst that will happen if you call a guide is they will tell you that you can't split BLT with BCV and then you go the resale route for BCV first.

But, given that you are looking at wanting small contracts, the price difference might not be that bad going direct through Disney and I would certainly check with them and find out what your options are. They may be able to work a deal with you.

A few months ago, they weren't allowing new members to split up their first contract and now they are so you just never know!

Good luck!!

You can contact resale agents and tell them what resort & size contract you are interested in - most have an email notification alert they will send out before they actually publish latest resale contract(s) on their web site so this may be helpful to you to find a resale that you'd like to buy.

:goodvibes

yeah, i would get the BCV through resale and then add-on the BLT directly.. that way you can get exactly what you want and match the use years while saving saome $$$
