Hello fellow campers....awesome site with great info...so glad I found it!

We are booked for a trip to FW Dec 4-12, 2009. We have a pop up so I requested the 1500 loop so the kids wouldn't be too far from the "action". Just hoping it's not too noisy and mom and dad can have a little peace and quiet too!! Any thoughts on this choice??

DH is active duty Air Force so we are taking advantage of the military offer for the 5 day park hopper tickets but scheduled a couple extra days just for relaxing around the fort.

I have not been to the fort since I was a teenager (many, many moons ago!)..since it was just the Magic Kingdom! We have been since then and stayed at the value resorts...last time was 2006 at Pop Century. It was after going to Mickey's Backyard BBQ that I told DH that from now on we would stay at the fort...such a different atmosphere. Now that we have a pop-up that's where we will be!!

We live on the panhandle of Florida...not as close as we'd like! Hope to make some long weekend trips to the fort as well. We always go during "off season" and take the kids out of school for it (I know teachers love us!) This time we wanted to see the Christmas decorations and we are celebrating DH's 40th Birthday too.

I have already learned so much from everyone but I'm sure I'll have some more questions!!

Welcome!!!!

Early December is a great time to go!! There are many of us including myself that will be there at the same time :banana:

(I'll be there November 27th - December 12th) also in a partial, maybe even in 1500 :-)

WELCOME!!!:yay::yay::yay:

We always take our kids out of school(homeschool now!) and definitely like going in the off season. I think you picked a wonderful time to go. I don't know much about the 1500 loop, but any campsite at Disney is better than being at home!:) We have requested 1600 for our trip in two weeks. We really like 1300, 1400 and 400, but have a full h/u this time.

I am told the crowds thin out the first two weeks of Dec. and that everyone seemed to follow us out the gate the weekend after Thanksgiving.:headache: Our friend Denny said the crowds disappeared a few days after we left and he had the campground and parks to himself!:sad2:

I think you have made some awesome plans and hope you have a great trip! We like Halloween better than Christmas, but really enjoyed the few Christmas decorations we saw in the parks this past Thanksgiving. Not everything was up yet, but the decorations at the Fort will most impress you!:wizard:

Welcome, Donna!

The 1500 loop is a great choice. I think it is quieter than the other partial loop (2000), as it seems like groups get sent over to the 2000 loop. I hope you get what you requested, but you probably know that the 1500 loop is a lot smaller than the 2000 loop, so there just are not as many sites to offer. But, you are camping during the "lull" between Thanksgiving and Christmas, so that could help.

Be sure to fax a loop request to the FW fax number (1-407-824-3508) five days before you arrive to increase your chances for the 1500 loop.

Oh, and we in the TCD gang love the Florida panhandle! We visit Seaside every summer!

Welcome! We will be camping at the fort for the first time with our family in October, so I know your exitement! We also are taking advantage of the military ticket special, but we are adding the park hopper and more for the extra 25.00 a person. December is a great time to go!!!! We went in December a few years back and loved it!

Hello and Welcome Donna .......... We have been camping at the 'Fort' for many years and always 'Love' the 1500 Loop (Cottontail Curl)! It's our favorite Loop! We have also had great sites in both 900 as well as in 1400! I hope you and your family have a 'Great' vacation!!!

Welcome and Thank you to your DH for his service to the country! We will be there from Nov 25 - Dec 13. This is my favorite time of the year to be at the Fort. The 1500 loop is very nice and you will have a great time.
:welcome:

What a great time to go, we have stayed in the 200 and 300 loops in the past but may be looking the 1500 or 1900 for our next trip.

WELCOME !!!

We camp too.
Don't forget your fish'n poles,,it'll be worth it. ;)

Just wanted to say welcome and how exciting about your upcoming trip! We are planning on camping at the Fort in January and would camp in September, but no free dining to campers. :confused3 The "Camping" section of this forum is awesome and the people on here are really nice and very helpful, as you've probably already learned.

:welcome: December is our favorite time to go as well. October is second on the list. I'm sure you will have a magical time.
