Newbie ?: how to pay for stuff in the parks?

Planning to take room key, express pass and tickets in a lanyard (thanks to advice from here). Do we need a credit card? Can we charge food, souvenirs, etc with room key?

yes, but there is a max per day.

We usually hit max within the first 2 shopping stops, so we just bring a credit card. Don't want to hit that limit and not have it with you.
