I am so happy I found these boards! There is such a wealth of information here I have been checking it out for a few days now and really am impressed. And everyone appears to be so nice and ready to answer questions. I was on a different forum looking for trip information but got a little discouraged by all the complaining and sometimes even meanness.

My dh and I live near Seattle and try to get to the parks at least three times a year. Our last visit was in May for two weeks. We stretch it out as far as we can because we can never get enough Disney and like to make the best of our AP's.

Our next visit will be in October and will be our first trip during Halloween time. Right now we are planning on a 10 day visit, but might extend if we can't tear ourselves away as the end is getting close.

We've made reservations at the Anaheim Plaza. Not our first choice but it will do, I think. I can cancel no charge up to 48 hrs in advance. I called and asked a million questions and while I am not expecting a 5 star hotel, I think it will work for us. Our main concern is staying close enough to walk and that was the best price. There is no (free) breakfast which is fine. We can get food and have cereal and fruit, or have breakfast at Mimi's or in the parks if we want more. We only eat two meals a day, with a yummy disney snack in the afternoon or evening.

There is a $4 per day parking fee and $10 per day for WiFi. I'm okay with the parking charge, and will use the internet only every other day or so. For about 775/10 days I'm good with that.

So...I look forward to learning a lot here. Now back to reading and checking out all the great photos.

Welcome, I'm glad you found your way to the DIS.

The API has large fridges and a microwave in the rooms so you can bring plenty of food for breakfast and snacks. It's a short walk 7 minutes to the parks. Cross Harbor right away, at the corner of the API property so you don't walk up to the crowded interesection.

Since you are going for a long visit, you may want one day to be for the Halloween party only, and not use a regular ticket that day. You can enter DL with the party tickets at 3pm on Tuesday and 4pm on Fridays.

Thanks, skiingfast!

We have AP's so we won't have regular tickets. I'm not sure we want to do the Halloween party. If we choose not to, we can just go to DCA after the party starting time, right?

Oh and thanks for letting me know to cross Harbor right away. I was wondering if one way would be better than the other. : )

I was kind of thinking you had APs since you are going for such a long trip, but wasn't sure if some of the days were to go elsewhere. Did you book directly with API and get an AP rate? They sometime offer deals there to APHs. Also look at the party dates, with the AP rates some nights can be a lot cheaper than others. http://disneyland.disney.go.com/special-offers/mickeys-halloween-party/

I would suggest doing a Halloween Party if you haven't done one before. The Fireworks are the best DL has, plus it's fun to dress up and get candy. Sure you can go over to DCA, but it will be really busy, with so many days it may be better to get the heck out of Dodge instead. In the evening no party goers start to head to DCA making it busy and when the party starts so many regular guests just cross over to DCA it gets very busy.

I've got to echo skiingfast. If you guys are huge Disney fans, you'll LOVE the Halloween party. It really is magical. You get to see tons of characters who never come out at any other time of year, and the fireworks are great. Best of all, you get to dress up! That's always our favorite part, and our whole family gets in on the fun. CMs even select some of the best costumes to ride in the parade.

I don't recommend the party for everyone, but since you guys are such big fans, I think you would really enjoy it. When else will you get to meet all seven dwarves, or the princesses AND their princes? It's just a fun night, and would really be special since this is your first Halloween visit. You also get discounted tickets with your APs!

skiingfast and KateDrake,

You just may have talked me into the Halloween Party! I'll see if dh is onboard, he usually says "sure, if that's what you want to do".

:tinker:

hmm what did i do wrong with my ticker....???

Looks like you may have some extra string of code. Does it work when you delete this string:
alt="DIStickers.com Ticker" border="0"/

I see that the link itself will lead to your ticker but that extra line above may be junk code?

Thanks Smiles33!

I was using the wrong code box. I thought the HTML one would work, but after much trial and error, I figured out the bbcode box must be used.

I'm nothing if not stubborn and persistent!
