Hi everyone..This is my first time posting and i too am a little overwhelmed about my vacation. I booked a trip about 2 weeks ago for our 1st family trip to the world for the entire week of Thanksgiving. We will arrive on 22nd and leave on 28th. I booked at CSR..I have a few questions..After reading lots of reviews about CSR..i was wanting to request an area and wondered how soon is too soon to fax a request of a section and should i also call if i fax them?? Next question..I have already made several ADR's on the Deluxe DP and we are driving so im wondering if its possible for us to drive from our resort to other resorts such as Grand Floridian and yacht club resort because i booked dinners at both of those and want to make sure we get to those on time?? I'm sure i will have other questions as i go but for now i guess thats it..LOL thanks so much!!

Welcome!

First, the reservations aren't releast from central reserations until a few days before your check-in date, so don't fax any requests directly to the resort before then.

You can drive to any resort. They will give you a temporary parking pass to use while you are there to eat dinner.

Also, since you are asking for advice, I would never recommend the deluxe dining plan for any family that is new to traveling at Disney. Personally, I would downgrade your dining plan from deluxe to the regular/basic plan, 1 TS , 1 CS and 1 Snack per person per day. You will be at Disney during a VERY busy time and it will be difficult enough not knowing your way around the parks without having to worry about multiple table service/sit-down meals per day.

Here's a list of some touring tips that can be helpful to new people:

1. Make sure you have Advance Dining Reservations, as you will be going during a very busy time and the restaurants will not be taking walk-up reservations.

2. Get to the parks at opening. You really can get a lot done in the morning because so many other people sleep in.

3. Eat lunch around 11:00 or 11:30 a.m. before the fast food places get busy. Then when while everyone else is eating lunch, you will have lower crowds.

4. I buy a ton of the two for a dollar ponchos at the dollar store and keep them in the backpack. That way you can throw them a way after use and not worry about keeping up with a wet bulky poncho the rest of the day. Bring throw away ponchos to wear on Kali River Rapids at Animal Kingdom, if not you WILL get soaked.

5. Other things I put in the backpack each morning are Tylenol/Motrin, small first aid kit, camera with extra batteries, small hand towel, hand sanitizer, wipes and a bottle of water.

6. Most single service items under $4.00 are considered a snack credit on the dining plan.

7. At Magic Kingdom always head to Fantasyland first, if you are not doing Fantasyland on a particular day then head to Splash Mountain first, then Big Thunder Mountain; at Epcot always ride Soarin' first and get a Fastpass for later after you get off of the ride; at Disney Hollywood Studios always ride Toy Story Mania first, then head over to Rockin' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror; and at Animal Kingdom ride Expedition Everest First then head to the Safari.

8. Favorite fast food restaurants at MK are Pecos Bills and Cosmic Rays; favorite fast food at Animal Kingdom is Flame Tree Grill and Pizzafari. If you are there while it very hot, go to Pizzafari.

9. If there are two lines going into an attraction, always take the line that goes to the left.

10. My best tip would have to be USE THE FASTPASS SYSTEM - it's free! Our rule of thumb is if the wait is 25 minutes or less, we wait in line. If the wait is 30 minutes or more, use a Fastpass. It is not highly publicized, but your Fastpass does not expire until the end of the day. You can never use it before the return time stamp on the pass, but you can always use it after. We try to collect Fastpasses during the early part of the day and then use them later in the afternoon when the parks become more crowded.

Click on this link and it will give you an excellent overview of Fastpass:

If you still don't understand, just let me know your specific questions.

11. I like the Photopass. You can pre-buy it before your trip for $99.00. When you enter the parks you will see the staff photographers, they will take your pictures and give you a Photopass and you can use that for the rest of your trip. Each time you see a photographer have them take your picture and they will scan your picture. Then when you get home you can pull up the pictures, with the code they email you after purchase, and pick the photos you want on a CD. They will then mail you the CD and the copyrights to the CD and you can take them to Walmart or Walgreens or wherever and get them developed. They also have a lot of cool software that you can use to edit your photos before you have them put on the CD.

HOPE YA'LL HAVE A MAGICAL VACATION!!!:wizard:

Welcome:banana: Princess TIffany has given you some great advice!! And I hate to tell you but I agree with her that if you can downgrade to the Regular dining plan you should... otherwise you WILL spend most of your time eating and missing out on the attractions. Remember that an ADR at Disney does not mean that you will be seated upon your arrival and it is going to be VERY busy during Thanksgiving.

The only other words of wisdom I have is to go to the bookstore or library and pick up a guide book. As a family look through the book and decide what attractions and rides are a must, remember to check height requirements if that might be an issue. We have three kids so for our first trip I let each one pick two rides at each park (sometimes they chose the same ones, sometimes not). We focused on doing those first and then everything else we could squeeze in was a bonus!! Have a wonderful trip!!

Welcome!
We are staying at the CSR for our trip in October. Its our second time staying here. I think you will love it too!!
Last time - we faxed our request the week before our trip (like on a Monday before that Saturday we were to arrive)
Our requests were met -but don't always expect that to be the case.
It is a "request" after all. But it doesn't hurt to ask.
Also - HOW you ask is important. This is what my fax said:

Hi!
My Husband and I will be celebrating our 4th Anniversary at this beautiful resort from April 25 – May 2 and I wanted to see if you could possibly accommodate our room requests for our trip.
We currently have a King Bed – Non Smoking. We’ve never stayed at this resort so I don’t know specifically what to request. But - if possible - We would like a room that has been Renovated and that is Quiet, Secluded, and Romantic. Being near a quiet pool also sounds lovely. Perhaps in the Casitas 4?
Thank you in advance for any help you can give us in making our anniversary visit a special one!
I hope you have a Magical day!!

What is considered a decent daily tip for mousekeeping. I am excitedly looking forward to coming to the Yacht club in october and want to make sure that I tip correctly.

I think a good rule of thumb is $1 per person in your room - per day.
So if you, your spouse and 2 kids are going... You would want to leave $4 a day.
Its just me and my hubby - so sometimes I feel like $2 is too little - so I leave $3 a day. I've seen families of 3 or 4 people go ahead and leave $5 a day.
Its whatever you are most comfortable with.
Some people never leave mousekeeping. And they get service just as good and still get the little towel animals and everthing. Mousekeeping tips are not expected and they make a very decent wage without it!
Hope this helps!
WELCOME to Disboards!!
