Hi! This is my firts post here.

I'm going to Disneyworld next february and I need advice on where to eat and, more important, how to make reservations online. I'm from Argentina, so I can't phone from here. It's a matter of $$$ and my spoken english is not soooo good.

So, any advice is welcome!!!

Thanks in advance!

Bettina

Bettina, welcome to the Dis!

Unfortunately, there aren't online dining reservations yet. The only way to get them is via phone. Did you book through a tour or travel company? Maybe they can help you with the reservations. Here in the US, many of our travel agents can handle this for their customers.

Now, saying that, I bet you speak Spanish? If so, you can almost certainly get a spanish speaking person on the phone. Quite a bit of our population in the US speaks spanish and companies almost always offer bilingual phone representatives. It might cost you some $$ to call from Argentina, but don't worry about the language.

Tell us more about what you like to eat, and we can give you some suggestions.

Thanks Aggiegrl!

What I like to eat?. Well, almost everything (pls, not spicy :goodvibes ).

I will plan my days and then I'll try the phone reservations (fingers crossed for a spanish speaking guy).

I didn't remember this in my last post, but I just called to change one of my reservations. As soon as you call the dining reservation number, it asks you if you want to continue in English or Espanol. No worries!

I'd suggest looking at food pictures here on the boards. Also, there is a website http://allears.net/menu/menus.htm where you can look at menus. Your english seems really good to me, but if not, you can enter the website into an online translator for more help.

Good luck!

People who call more often might be able to tell me for sure - is Spanish-speaking one of your menu options before you even get a live person? Or maybe that's just the bank... nm, Aggiegirl just answered that!

Anyway, if the person you're talking to doesn't speak Spanish, just ask! You'll be neither the first nor the last. :)

Now, some of our favorite places to eat...

Spoodles, at the Boardwalk: Mediterrean-influenced food, very good! great desserts

Flying Fish, Boardwalk: upscale fish restaurant; this one's going to be expensive, but it's WELL worth it!!

Yachtsman Steakhouse, Yacht Club: upscale steak place; again, expensive but worth it; I looove their bread w/ roasted garlic!

Liberty Tree Tavern, Magic Kingdom: we eat here for lunch every trip; their burgers are amazing, and the pot roast is good, too.

Boma, Animal Kingdom Lodge: African-inspired buffet; there's something for everyone at Boma, including the picky kiddos; this is one of our favorite places on property!

Beaches and Cream, Beach Club: themed like an old-fashioned soda fountain; the burgers are decent (but there are better things on the menu); the ice cream sundaes are the reason to go!!

You'll see a link to my May '08 food review; if you click that you'll find tons of pics of all the food we ate. Also, check out Deb's site at http://allears.net. She has menus for every restaurant at wdw!

Good luck, and happy eating. :goodvibes

Hola, Bettina. Bienvenidos!

The others have already answered your question about making reservations, so I will just tell you some of my favorite places to eat at Walt Disney World.

IMPORTANT TIP: Remember that you can eat in any resort restaurant, even if you are not staying there. You are not limited to just the resort where you are staying, and not limited to just the parks.

1) Dinner at 'Ohana in the Polynesian Resort. 'Ohana is my favorite place to eat at WDW. 'Ohana is "family style", which means that everyone gets the same meal, but you can eat as much as you want, as many helpings as you want. My favorite part at 'Ohana is the dessert - it's the best dessert I've ever had at WDW. Be sure to save room for it!

2) Dinner at Boma in Animal Kingdom Lodge. Boma is a buffet - self-serve, all you can eat - and it serves African-inspired foods. There is a very large variety of foods at Boma, so you can try a little of many different dishes. One of my favorites is the prime rib. There are some very good desserts at Boma, too, so save room. TIP: Plan on spending some time walking around Animal Kingdom Lodge either before or after dinner to explore. It's a beautiful place, with a savanah where you can view live animals, and a lobby that is beyond magnificent.

3) Lunch at the Yorkshire County Fish Shop, U.K. pavilion, Epcot World Showcase. Yorkshire is just fish and chips. That's all, nothing else. But they are delicious, and I enjoy eating them either while looking at the World Showcase Lagoon, or while listening to the band British Invasion, which plays live in a courtyard on the other side of the U.K. pavilion.

4) Breakfast at Kona Cafe, Polynesian Resort. Kona serves a great breakfast, in a great resort. My favorite is Tonga Toast, which is French toast stuffed with banana slices.

5) Lunch at the Dolphin Fountain, Dolphin hotel outside Epcot's International Gateway entrance. The Swan and Dolphin hotels, and the restaurants in them, are not owned by Disney, so you can't use Dining Plan credits there or charge to your room. But the Fountain is a terrific place for a sandwich or burger, and it's rarely crowded.

6) Dinner at Chef Mickeys, Contemporary Resort. Chef Mickeys is a buffet, and a character meal, with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy. The food is great, and the characters are a lot of fun, even for adults.
