I would suggest booking as soon as the rates come out (that's probably early August).

I would also suggest booking through AAA if possible, so you can receive their discount.

Either way, the bulk of the money won't be due till well after February!

I agree with the pp to book as soon as the 2009 rates come out in August. If you're booking a package, all you'll need is a $200 deposit with the balance due 45 days before your arrival....so that gives you plenty of time to get your tax refund :goodvibes.

Welcome-we are planning a May trip as well. Package prices should come out soon. Many have reserved rooms already and will change to a package when the rates come out. I do not feel that is necessary unless you want a special view or specific room. We are just looking for regular rooms which should be no problem. Of course the month of May will start out with fairly low crowds and build as the month goes on-if you are going Memorial Day you will want to books asap.

Have fun planning.:)

well i am planning for the weekend of may 16th thru may 21st or 22nd. possibly longer if i can take my full 2 week vacation from work. :worship: i would love to be able to put down the $200.00 deposit on the package when the rates come out but i wont due to being on a very tight budget right now. i was planning on paying in full just as soon as i get my taxes done for 2009 which should hopefully be no later than feb. 1st. my only concern is being able to find a room/s at an onsite resort. would hate to have to stay offsite due to having to pay for parking everyday.:sad2:

Dang, I purchased my May trip 08 at the end of March 08. . .stayed at Pop and was able to secure my fave dining ressies as well. . .but 3 months out is about the norm for me to book. . .

I am in the same boat as you, only I will be making ressies for August 2009 for at least 2, maybe three rooms, and 9 or 11 people, of which 3 are children and 2 are infants. And I read on here where they tell you it is a $200 deposit, but make certain that you know it is $200/person necessary for the reservation. Before it has only been me and my DS-18 so a $400 deposit wasn't too bad, but even reserving 2 rooms will be 5 adults, 2 children and 2 infants and that will be about $1400 to make that reservation. I am hoping to make mine in October.

If you're making a ressie for 3 packages (3 rooms w/tickets and possibly dining), you only need to put a deposit of $200 PER RESSIE/ROOM...NOT PER PERSON. So your deposit for 3 packages would be $600 ($200 for each). I always book packages through Disney (have been for the past 6 years) and I have never made a deposit of more than $200 total....and there are 4 of us (2 adults, 2 teens....which is actually 4 adults to Disney).

Book as soon as you can so you can get the hotel you want and the rate you want and I think you can cancel 48 hours before your arrival.
