Newbie flying to Australia...

Thanks for all the help and advice again guys, I will try and get a reloadable card before I head over there, with a better exchange rate for sure.

Ok here’s a question for everyone...

I am wanting to bring some american food (chips and snacks) and candy from here to the people I am visiting in Australia, but I am packing it away in my checked baggage. Does all of this have to be declared?

Yes declare everything

It's likely all your food will be ok
As long as the package is it's original package and unopened it will get past customs

They just need to check it

Just read the card they give you and tick the food declaration

Have fun

Oh and I'm pretty sure you can't bring in honey

Maybe check the Australian customs website for stuff you can't bring in

Candy should be ok

Declare everything!

Check out the AQIS (Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service) website. They have a full listing of what you can't bring into Australia. The big tickets are meat products, fruit, wood and soil.
