Newbie DVC questions

So, search function is still busted. Have a few questions...

* We want to book a room for October 1-8, 2008 at BWV (or BCV if they are all booked up). Our home resort is SSR/OKW so we have to wait 7 months out. Is March 1st at 7am when we need to call to book?

* If we call MS now, will they be able to give us a heads up on what is currently still available (even though we can't actually start booking until March)?

this is more or less the same type of question i was about to ask. Im hoping to book VBR 21/9/08 till 26/9/08, studio / ovir? what are my chances do you think at 7 month window?

I am not sure about your chances for these resorts, I know they book up fast....but the reservation is based on checkout date...not check in. So your 7 month window would be on the 8th for the entire reservation. Some people recommend doing it day by day, so starting on the 2nd you would call every day and add one night. Biggest problem you might run into is if you have to waitlist one or two nights of your stay if they aren't available. Regardless of what you do, I would book at SSR or OKW and just try to switch at 7 months, but this way you at least have your reservation somewhere.

We booked at BWV for the 5th - 10th. We actually tried for the week of the 12th - 17th first (Week of Columbus Day), but the 2 Bedroom Standard Views were all book by the 11 month window (November 17th). The 7 month window at BWV may be tight in October since the Halloween party and F&W could be going on during your trip.

If you are locked in to those dates, you probably want to do day by day booking just to make sure.

You call to reserve 7 months from check-out date not date of arrival which for your trip if reserving all at once would mean calling March 8. If your intent is to do day by day reserving, you would not call March 1 at 7 a.m. to get that first night. Instead you would call March 2 at 8 a.m. (Chicago time, since MS opens at 9 eastern). You would be reserving the first night Oct 1 and thus your "check-out" date for that night is Oct 2 and 7 months before check-out date is March 2. Possible if you call MS they may tell you how booked they are but I have never done that.
