We are going to be at Hollywood Studios for one day and I think the kids would enjoy the sci fi diner. Is this something I need to make ADR for? PLanning on a late lunch early dinner. I know, I know, someone who has never been to Disney? Shocking lol...

Yes it is a good idea to get your reservations in at the 180 day mark.....I dont think I know of to many times that we were able to walk up and get into a restaurant.....
Have fun planning your trip To the HOuse of the Mouse:thumbsup2

Sci Fi and Prime Time, I know, are often full for most of the afternoon and evening, when we've visited. I don't know about Hollywood & Vine -- perhaps you'd have a better chance there, or worse; I just don't know. Brown Derby tends to be pretty light, in my experience, in mid-afternoon, during the off-season when we typically visit. We've had some walk-in success there, but again, that's the off-season.

You should make an ADR for any restaurant that accepts ADRs that you want to eat at. Otherwise, you may not be able to eat at the restaurant at all or be subject to eating at odd times (like 3:00 for lunch or 4:30 for dinner).

If Sci-Fi is too tough to get, try getting the latest breakfast at Play_n_Dine at Hollywood and Vine (depending on the age of your children). The food is good and if they are still young enough to appreciate Jo Jo and The Einsteins you are golden!

Just get the latest breakfast you can. Go in early, ride some things, get a fastpass, then go eat. When you are done you can use your fast pass and have a great time!

Another voice of experience saying that you should make ADRs for (1) every restaurant you want to definitely eat at and (2) for any meal that you really want to eat at a specific time. We make ADRs for every meal at any restaurant that takes ADRs.

The only thing to be aware of for Sci-Fi is that, depending on the age of your kids and their sensitivity to movie images, you might want to reconsider. The cheesy old black and white sci-fi films they show TOTALLY freaked out my son when he was 6 -- our meal there was the worst experience of the trip for him and he refused to even consider going back there until our last trip (when he was 11). As an 11-year-old, he could see through the bad special effects enough to appreciate the humor, but at 6 it terrified him.

Thanks, they are 8, 12, and 15(all boys!) and they will love it. They love the old cheesy horror flicks like Black Lagoon....Now to figure out what day we are going!
