Newbie - clothing size question

Hi there
I am new to these boards but have been reading a lot of threads. We are visiting WDW in October for the first time and I am very excited.

I have just been reading how some people ship internet orders to WDW - it sounds great.

I have been looking at a few websites but am having trouble working out the clothing sizes.

My kids are about size 5 NZ, size 8 NZ and size 10 NZ
My husband would normally wear about a size XXL NZ t-shirt
I am about a size (cough) 18 NZ.

What would these sizes be in US sizes?

Welcome to our Aussie/Kiwi board fellow Kiwi!! We too will be in Orlando for our first WDW trip this year and, as you can see from my ticker, I've been planning it for a looooong time so have loved participating in this forum. I'm lucky to have been to Disneyland heaps and we have taken our girls there once before but none of us have been to WDW so we are very excited - although probably me most of all

We will be at POR 29 Sep- 08 October while we do WDW and then move to Staybridge Suites International Drive 8-15 Oct while we do Universal, Sea World, shopping and hopefully see a real rocket launch. We then stay a night in Port Canaveral while we visit KSC and then board Freedom of the Seas for our 7-night Western Caribbean cruise.

For WDW park touring planning research (I see you posted a question on another thread), I have got a copy of the Unofficial Guide to WDW plus I joined Tourguide Mike and Touring Plans. However, you can actually get great advice on the free EasyWDW site which is where I visit most often now.

In terms of clothing, our NZ sizing is actually usually U.S. sizing so, unless a range of clothing was known to run small or large, you'd most likely be safe ordering in the sizes you wear here. However, remember what fun it's going to be to shop in Orlando at the outlet stalls and malls etc!!

We will be at WDW around the same time. We arrive Oct 2 and leave on Fri 14. We are staying at POP 2-10 and then Kidani 10-14.
I am so excited. I have been to Disneyland once in 98. The kids have never been to the US so have no idea what to expect.
We have a week in LA after Orlando so may visit Disneyland before flying out (depends if we are theme parked out! - I doubt we will be )

At this stage we will visit Universal Studios for two days, but we don't really have a plan of what we will do each day at WDW yet. I will look at the sites you mentioned to get planing tips.

How did you make the time line counting down to your trip?

Do not get clothing shipped to you!!!!!!! there are the sizing considerations for a start, but the biggest thing is you are going to Orlando! Orlando has discount outlets galore. My personal favourite is Nordstrom RACK, Millenia Crossing, because it has everything in the one shop (department store discount outlet, so it has men', women's, children's, clothing and footwear) It is serious discounts - some of the factory outlet shops at Premium Outlets (International Drive near Universal or Vineland Ave near Disney) aren't really clearance prices, unless you go in sale times, still worth checking, but serious discounts I'd say start at Nordstrom RACK. You'll also be amazed at the everyday prices at WalMart and Target etc for clothing. Even if you weren't thinking of hiring a car, it might be worth it for one day of shopping......


Size-wise, S, M, L, XL, XXL, etc are about the same, you might find an NZ 18 goes down to a US 16, depending on how tight your 18 is, kids and men's are about the same, though a US men's XXL may be a bit roomier, but it does depend on the brand.
