My sister in law and her husband recently bought a Class "C" RV and we are considering borrowing it for our trip over Christmas week 2011. Questions I have are:

1. Are we too late to get a camping site for this trip or too early?
2. Anyone have a recommendation on when I should book the camp site.

We are actually looking forward to this, it will my daughters 21 birthday when we take this trip.

We are DVC members so Disney is almost second nature to us, but we thought we would do something different for this trip.

Any help would be appreciated.

Since that is THE single busiest week of the entire year - both at the Fort and WDW in general - I'd strongly recommend booking it right at the 499 day mark.

Which, depending on when you're planning to check in is...... NOW! :santa:

I definitely would if it were me. We've had a hard time booking Thanksgiving weekend (not even the actual holiday) "only" 9 months ahead... and Christmas is a whole lot busier.

It can't hurt to book it now. You only need to pay one night's site fee as a deposit and it's fully refundable up to a week before your trip. So, figure $100 or so to hold the site. If you are reasonably sure you want to go then, book it as soon as you can.

I would also book for 14 nights over the holiday week. Then as next year passes, you can set your dates in stone (after time off at work has been approved and all). There's no charge for canceling days off your reservation, even within the week leading up to your arrival. But having a larger block of time will allow you to plan your vacation better without short changing yourself.

Thanks everyone for the advice, I have my request in through a TA, hopefully I will have an answer tonight. Does anyone know if they do packages or dining with the campsites or is that only with a room?

Thanks

Yes you can do full packages with a campsite.
