New to DVC. Just want to confirm- you can use banked and/or borrowed points at ANY DVC resort, right? The paperwork I received keeps using the term Home Resort Vacation Points so just want to make sure you can use those banked/borrowed points at any resort, not just your home resort.

Yes, subject to booking windows.

Home Resort: up to 11 months prior to check-in date.
Non-Home Resort: up to 7 months prior to check-in date.

can add, that, banked/current/borrowed points can be used up to 11 months out at your home resort.

If you at some point, gets points transferred from another member, then those points can be used up to 11 months out at the resort from which they came.

Regards

I believe if you transfer points, it is still subject to that resorts home resort priority booking window, but would love for someone who knows for sure to chime in :-)

never actually done it yet, so I don't have first hand experience -- but everything I've read confirms that transferred points maintain the home resort priority booking window of the account they were originally from.

Correct. Points Transferred in retain their original Home Resort & Use Year. They can be used for a reservation at any resort, but still subject to booking windows based on original home resort.

the other thing you need to know about transferred points is that they don't show up in your on-line portal. You apparently have to keep track of them on your own, and if you want to use them to book, you must call MS for them to book it for you.

Again -- I don't have first hand experience -- but that is what many have stated in other threads. If someone knows differently, please correct me.

Yes that is correct with one exception: if you receive a transfer of points that match a resort and UY that you own, the transferred points can be placed into your contract. In all other cases, there is no place for the transferred points to go so MS tracks them separately somehow and that's why you can't see them online and must call MS to use them for a reservation. This can be important if you are trying to book a hard to get reservation that requires booking online at 8am sharp. Waiting that hour to call MS when they open at 9am can make the difference between getting and missing out on that reservation.
