New owner here!:woohoo: What advice/warnings/tips would you vets have for a newbie? Anything you wish you had know from the begiing?

Congratulations on your purchase, and WELCOME HOME!! :cool1:

The main tip is to relax, enjoy your membership and take the time to fully enjoy the WDW resort amenities that you might not have used if you were the "park commando" type in the past. Aside from that, just stay on top of your banking deadlines and keep reading these boards for membership changes in policies, procedures and perks.

Enjoy your membership! :thumbsup2

Welcome. You are gonna love it!
My advice is plan your trip early and make your reservations as early as possible. This would include dining as well as resort reservations.
Keep up with these forums. Since members go all through the year they usually post updates about new things (sometimes before the general public finds out).
Don't be afraid to call member services and ask questions about anything related to DVC.
Most important...use the membership. I am sure others will provide much more advice.

One thing I wish I knew from the beginning was how addictive DVC can be. In less than a year, we were needing more points.

This is the best advice. I've learned more from these boards then everywhere else combined. Ask any question, it will be answered (Most times within minutes).

The one thing I wish I knew before was about borrowing and banking. Years ago, when I first heard about DVC, I assumed you received a certain number of points that had to be used each year. As much as we love WDW, I didn't know if I wanted to be tied to visiting every year, so I didn't look any further into buying. I only discovered the art of banking and borrowing to move points into different years last year when looking into possibly renting points. Of course, I learned this from the DIS boards (See comment above). If I would have known this before we would have bought into DVC many years before we did.

Congratulations on your purchase!
