Hi. DH bought me a good manual treadmill at Walmart. The last one and was the one on display so we got it even at a lower price. Well its great but no manual(instructions) and no pin to change the level.
So being new, I need to start slow. Do yous go by distance or time ,when yous first started out?

I would recommend shooting for 20 minutes and going from there (If you can already do this much just add some time till your body says to stop.) Work your way up every couple days (2-3 days ) a minute or so. As your body gets used to it you can increase the speed of the treadmill as well. For example if you start out at a 3 just increase it to a 3.1 and so on. If you start out with the incline as 0 maybe once a week (Or twice a week if your body will accept it) increase the incline by .5.

My biggest thing is don't push yourself to where you want to quit. I've got my Mom doing this kind of a workout and she has lost 20 pounds in the last month and a half. She is up to 3 times a day around 20-25 minutes a walk. I'm so proud of her!

I just got back on my elliptical yesterday and I could only do 10 minutes. This morning I got on and forced myself to hit 11. I'll try to increase that each time until I get to a level where I'm comfortable at. My goal is to be able to do 30 minutes nonstop eventually!
