Last time the family went to WDW was in 2007. I was able to get airfare for arounD $115 per person round trip back then. What is the going rate of airfare now? What kind of deals should I be looking for, for Aug 2011
Thanks

We paid $184.50RT per person for March 2011 and $179.40RT per person for April 2011. I don't think you'll find anything lower than that on CO from EWR to MCO.

Unitenental (I guess United now. It's weird to see United written on the side of the plane and the Continental Logo on the tail) and Jet Blue are your best bets out of EWR to MCO.

Look at both of their websites (use Continental's not United's) and get your best price. Remember JetBlue allows one free bag per passenger.

Also a possibility is Southwest they will be flying out of Newark starting in March, but I have not seen MCO listed as of yet. Maybe by the summer that could happen.

Back in 9/08, we flew for $118 each! I think those days are gone, but I did just fly 12/11-15 for $158 (plus fees). for Sept 09 we flew for $178. Honestly, it's not bad compared to what I read for other states. I consider anything under $200 a bargain. We were just spoiled with those really low rates. Southwest coming to Newark might make things interesting, though I really cant see how they can charge much less than what we are currently paying.

I am pricing out the same thing right now, so far I can't find anything lower than $184 RT on Continental and $254 RT on JB. I can usually get around $120 or so on JB, but I'm afraid that isn't going to happen this year. As a matter of fact the JB fight I have been watching has gone up $10 each way in the last 2 weeks so I'm not thinking it's going down. I'm going to check Delta now.

Friends have suggested Spirit out of AC but DH doesn't want to go there. He is such a creature of habit he wants to go JB even though it is more $$ (there are 5 of us) over continental because he likes JB better.

Good Luck OP, maybe we'll see you at the airport!

Just to add to my aboove post, don't forget that JB does not charge for the 1st bag and continental charges $23 per person for 1 bag.

I'm coming up with around $202 per person at this time.
(Yes, I have nothing better to do than find cheap airfare for others :rotfl:).
We've flown out of Newark many times, as well as Atlantic City.

We recently closed on a resale and booked our 1st trip as DVC owners in April (really my DD's and her DH's DVC) for 4/9-4/17. Now on to airfare, I'm the one who does all the online searching, found the resale as well.
I am tracking on Yapta; DD won't fly from LGA or JFK, even tho RT from JFK is now $191 on AA. Checked out JB from SWF, more expensive.
:confused3With gas prices so high now is $361/CO at peak times: 6:20am and 11:05am return (Sunday morning, work next day, have 2 y/o) a bad price?
In the past, I have flown cheaper than this but usually booked much farther ahead. Departure times/nonstop are pretty impt to them, at least, we have a little more wiggle room on coming home as neither of us have commitments on Monday. Decisions, decisions!! So hard!
Thanks for any tips!

Continental has some $95 (one way flights ) now for August, so just under $200pp RT, not too bad. I am still sad I couldn't get JB because I LOVE that airline, but with 5 of us, I have to find a reasonable price. Maybe next year SW will shake up the competition, but I'd be too nervous to wait for the Spring to book flights. Good Luck!

I think I'd book anything under $200RT right now. How close are you to PA? I just booked out of ABE (Allentown) for $124 plus taxes non-stop from ABE to MCO for March on Airtran.

Really, it sounds like there are options for around $200, which is where I'm thrilled and buy quickly... But, we did buy tickets on Airtran for nonstop PHL to MCO for $150. The times arriving and departing were great and we are going mid april, everything out of Newark was $300 or more for the dates I needed. I'm okay with an extra hour drive to save that much - it adds up with 5 tickets. Good luck - we do fly a lot and it just seems a lot more expensive in the last year, we went to Seattle in August and the tickets were outrageous... - Julie

aaggghhh!!! CO is now $182 out of Newark.. I hate this...so I book, yes or no??
I looked into other airports and airlines nothing was any cheaper then this. Southwest does not open their end of Aug flights until Feb 8th... I don't think I should wait...
I just hate this game

I got Continental for our April trip for $184 and i'm sorry I waited. Back in Dec I could have gotten the same flight for the same dates for $164. I also booked our Nov trip for $204 again; I waited just 2 weeks earlier that flight was $194.
I would get your air now if you are flying Continental as it seems they just keep going up.
